I lost the weapons for my terrorcons long ago, so thanks for that. I totally forgot about the fin on the gun.

I've always seen Sinnertwin as a dog because, as you stated, Hun-grr is already a dragon. Plus, he always looked much more canine to me.

I don't count that fin thing as part of him.

Sharks also don't have neither arms or legs. The salamander looks closer to the G1 alt mode IMHO.

Really? Wow. Then by that logic, Starscream's a pretty awful F-15:

Lots of G1 TF's, "need their parts" for essential aspects of their alt-modes. Some more than others.

Is Snaptrap not a turtle, because most of his shell isn't an integral part of him?

Anyways, back to Salamanders---I don't know how someone could look at Rippersnapper's tail, and say "salamander" more than "shark".

    Shark fin+shark tail=shark, not salamander.

"Lots" need to be quantified. Also it's obvious that the "fin" needs to come off for combined mode.

Neither do noses, and yet the G1 Blot toy exists :D

It could also be said that salamanders don't have tail fins, either. But, as I said, I can absolutely see the case for either viewpoint.

He also has the branchial / gill slits typical from sharks and their relatives.

Yeah, that's why I said that it reminds me of a hellish salamander lol.

I don't know, usually the combiner's head, with a few exceptions, has an elaborate pair of antennas and / or a crest. Most of them have visors too.

He told me that he won't get them, but judging from previous purchases of his, (where he gets a toy he didn't have the intention to buy in the first place) maybe he would get them eventually. Hopefully!

I kinda now think he’s got the face of a caecilian amphibian.

At this point we’ve put more thought into what he is than his creators.

I think that this is a good point. Rippersnapper's tail is more shark-like than anything else, especially salamander.

Then there's this also. Why make him with a fin that is non-essential in other modes? Doesn't make sense to me.

This has to be the greatest truth regarding Rippersnapper right now! LOL!

Considering he is a Terrorcon, emphasis on terror, and seeing the rest of his buddies, landshark-like creature "brings more terror" than a salamander. Landshark mixes in better with two-headed dog, two-headed dragon, a flying terror, and Blot. Salamander just doesn't bring "terror." But, as quoted above, we've put more thought into what he is than his creators, and since they didn't provide any definition, we can think him to be whatever we want. It's landshark for me.

Giant salamanders can bite off a human finger with one bone breaking bite, are six feet long, and emitt a toxic mucus. I dunno about you, but one of those the size of a cyerrtronian would be terrifying, especially with a name rippersnapper.

Also, I agree the tail is definitely different and more sharklike. But the rest of him is so bloated and flat, likely due to limitations of the time, make it feel more like a giant salamander, fins or not if he lied down and started crawling around, id probably say salamander first, then say shark

Although, props to tfc for making him look terrifying. Theres no question that he's a shark

I think the world’s salamander lives in Japan, so there’s that as well.

With colored samples. It's probably going out by the end of the month.

There is the Orthus in mythology, a two-headed guard dog monster
    Orthrus - Wikipedia.

Any pics of Garuda I found depicted him with arms and wings, which could probably be done with the robots arms. I doubt TFC's Cutthroat while have separate beast arms.

I like to think of Hun-Gurr maybe as more of a hydra, obliviously though, he wouldn't be able to do the cut one head, two more replace it gimmick.

To be honest, the Rippersnapper salamander discussion sort of swayed me, but this version does lean more towards shark.

Blot is Blot, an orge, a troll, a magic nose goblin, a thingie

I always thought Cutthriat was more of a pterasaur or something. Unfortunately he ends up looking more like a Murder Chicken in most representations.

It veers a bit from established G1 versions, but I did this with the OS PotP Cutthroat and it looked pretty badass as a griffin:

Off-topic-ish, but speaking of Digimon, this would make a cool mecha horror/T-Beast-like design
