As I mentioned earlier, I hope TFC leans more towards this head design and coloration, and given some demonic styling (so you know, maybe fangs?)

Unlikely. They've already veered off script by having Blot be the leg and Rippersnapper be some shark monster.

Something closer to some Digimon monster would be my guess ;)

Well, by the time Abominus was around in g1, I think neither the animators nor comic artists cared enough to be consistent with his appearance.

Rippersnapper was always a weird shark monster with legs, at least some suggestion of one. That's what he's always looked like me.

And Blot, is whatever the heck Blot.

Rippersnapper always looked like a shark monster or a hellish salamander to me.

It's probably just me. The head on the G1 alt mode always reminds me of some other animal.

    A fish-tailed salamander sounds fitting.

I'd be down for that. Always thought Abominus should be more.... abominable.

Why do so many combiners have those same antenna/chimney/tennis ball launcher thingies on the side of their head, anyway?

Yeah not to me. The head is too flat. Also he has no fin.

    Same reason Optimus does?

They're a leftover relic from when all Cybertronians were lifeless servant automatons of the Quintessons. They functioned as receivers. This was before Quintesson scientists unwittingly discovered the Eell of Allsparks and brought their machines to life. Most modern Cybertronians have no clue of this legacy and just get them for fashion/aesthetic purposes.

Or that could be one way of explaining it.

No arguing, just different perceptions. I see a shark head, but I can certainly see the case for a salamander. It's really the tail shape that pushes it to "shark" for me, despite that missing dorsal fin.

That was by design because I was addressing an even bigger prick. But honestly I agree with you.

He totally has a fin. It's just an easily-lost bit:

There's a lot of sad little G1 Rippersnappers out there, missing their fins. And because of this, a quick google shows like 90% of the pics of G1 Rippersnapper in alt-mode, being finless. But he was designed/intended/sold as a finned shark-monster.

::edit:: Scratch that, 100% of pics. I legit couldn't find ANY pics, of a good sideview of Rippersnapper, in shark mode, showing his fin attached. I'll have to take one of my own. So I totally understand if people who didn't own the original, thought he had no fin, based on "like every pic out there on the web, showing him as finless". Probably leads to a lot of artwork showing him finless, too...

No I agree. Since as David hingeton noted, it did have a fin, it does look a bit more like a shark , but even then, its still funny to imagine rippersnapper scanning a giant salamander and just being that one guy who just flops around

Rippersnapper does have a fin. Unfortunately it came as part of his weapon attachment - you know, the ones that almost every limb member of a combiner has, starting with the constructicons.

Unfortunately the G1 designers never defined alt modes for us. While we can make a very good guess for the majority of them, when it comes to the terrorcons, anyone's guess is as good as anyone else's.
Though most seem to see him as a land shark, myself included. But the salamander is an interesting idea.
Still, I like TFC's take on him, the monstrous land shark.

Also, in this very thread, I believe, someone mentioned that Sinnertwin may actually be a two-headed dog, as from mythology. Which I like that idea more than a two-headed dragon since Hun-Grr already takes that spot.

Again, with the terrorcons, I really do think it comes down to opinion since they were not defined for us back then.
