Byrin did the initial design but the toy was very extensively revised by Griffith. All the sculpt detailing, tweaked proportions and articulation extras etc.

Though specifically regarding some of the unique engineering features like the calf panels those were replicated based on features of Supermax that Rick created. Given Grif is engineering Supermax he translated some of that projects dna in to this one. Pexus kind of a fun spiritual prequel to Supermax in that respect.

 

Oh shit, Griffin already started engineering on Supermax? Knew it was probably gonna happen this year, but to be honest, I kinda expected at the very least, a semi-official inkling of a word about it, haha.

 

God i'd kill for a redo with Nova. Make him taller and fix the proportions of the original and boom, he'd rock.

 

Rick has said a few times its still going in to development, he just had to be set aside for a while given how busy mmc's engineers have been in the meantime.

 

So, LazyAza, do you now if this figure and the two pack of ChromeDome and Rewind are still expected to meet their release dates for this month, or are you currently out of the loop on this information?

Heck yeah, he looks ridiculously awesome. Love the sliding knee & thigh armor (and that you even assemble the knee mechanism as part of the transformation!). Very rare to see features like that on a transformer; reminds me of MP-01, except with much improved modern engineering, haha.

Given all the understandable delays this year, I'd be surprised if we saw either one before January. But they're definitely worth the wait, I'd say!

I don’t need a reason to get another Optimus Prime lol. I have zero attachment to these characters but Optimus and MEGATRON usually get bought. This figure looks epic!
