With the Earthrise/GOC P/CP being in pretty much Nightbeat's deco I do wonder if the OG1 toy colours version might still show up as the Wave 2 filler figure (and I also wonder if at some point Nightbeat was planned for that GOC Dominus pairing? That would have been at least one -Master in the "Master" planet box set, also Cop Vs. PI is a solid generic plot point)?

 

Awesome! Glad we’re getting more news on these guys. These are the only thing I’m looking forward in the coming year. Still love the legends deco but the new is still great.

 

I hope this means we can get the 88 headmasters as well 

 

I will say, the paint on the Walmart release makes the details of the headsculpt pop a bit better, IMO.

 

So I wasn’t insane. The article was talking about semi-translucent tires and I was perplexed as I was pretty certain my TR Chromedome has them too.

Probably a pass from me simply due to not needing another one and still being depressed these aren’t reissued G1 figures.

 

The P/CP in the GO set matches the description Pixelmaster gave of the supposed TR reissue one (lighter colors), so I think it was purely a mistake on his/his source's part, not a last-minute change by Hasbro.

 

Haha, exactly. I already have the Generations and Legends versions, but I also... really like Headmasters....

 

Never liked the IDW head, which is why I never got this figure. Can\'t say I\'m excited about the overall deco but the GEEWUN head seals the deal for me.

I'm going to be getting these for the packaging alone. If they ever did a new line with retro style packaging I'd probably need two of each. I half hope they do and don't do something like that at the same time because it'd be a wallet drain for sure.

I like it, has more paint apps than the takara one, and looks closer to the G1 toy.

 

Always add a PINT of salt. Leaks are just by far Nice to Know info. I remember years ago, like 2 years before the actual release that G1 Devastar was supposedly in the pipeline that showed up 2 years after? Same with the G1 Dinobots (around the time Encore Fortmax was released). We did get them eventually albeit in an ugly state in PotP.

 

That is Occam's Razor most likely but those lighter almost exactly Nightbeat deco colours are a weird choice given that it matches no prior established P/CP deco but is, y'know, a whole heck of a lot like Nightbeat! I'd Really like to know what the thought process was behind that deco choice, and it wouldn't be the first time there were late in the day shenanigans regarding a Nightbeat toy! I'm not willing to entirely eliminate the possibility without more concrete evidence.

 

Can’t see any real reason to buy this if you have the Legends (other than that rad box), but what an improvement on the US side over that hideous face/deco they released the first time.

 

We actually got an in-hand image of it (I can't find it at the moment) but it is actually 3 shades darker than Nightbeat. Its still lighter, but not Nightbeat bright.

 

Agreed. Nothing beats the G1 style until they reached 1990. The international boxart sucked by then. In Takara's credit, their Legends boxart really knows how to push the switches on nostalgia 9 in other words.......great G1 style inspird packaging )
