Let's go with the Furai Model IDW Autobot Megatron. I don't think I've played this one before. Also, fun fact, that Sky Lynx is sitting in my Dad's office over 20 hours away because I pre-ordered it before moving and didn't have an address yet.

Let's stick with Furai and go with the G1 Optimus model:

Is the kit really worth it? I just couldn’t be bothered to have a non transforming G1 Optimus for that price point. It seems so boring really.

    I'm happy with R.E.D.

Funny thing is, that while most fans loathe actionmasters because they don't transform - Rad was the first transformers figure i ever purchased on my own. Saved up money from doing chores, walked by myself a few miles to Kmart, perused the toy isles, and chose him for his name alone... honestly, that dude traveled with me a lot.

    Ah, memories.

I keep hoping they release Rad in the siege/ER Datsun mold... you can tell he's one of them, and his colors would look sick.

It's OK. It's my least favorite of the four I have, the other two being IDW OP and Devastator. And while Devastator's the most expensive, it's my favorite, by far.

I don’t inherently hate non transforming TFs. I’d like to get a couple R.E.D. Figures. Action Masters fascinate me. And I have collected some of the Furai kits and love the ones I have but I just can’t justify paying that much for one of Optimus in his normal G1 look. There needs to be more to it or I just don’t see a point. I agree with you on Rad getting an Earthrise figure though I don’t really see it ever happening sadly. Much like many of the obscure characters I feel like will never get toys. Then again we got Black Roritchi and the Zone/Micromaster bases this year so who’s to say what’s possible these days.

I've said this several times before, and I'm sure I'll lay it out plenty of times after this. Of course I love that Transformers, well, transform. For me, that's most of the appeal. That said, I'm all for figure that don't transform for a couple reasons: if someone else likes them, that's good enough for me, and they usually look really good and have solid articulation. For me, personally, though, I can be a bit picky. They have to scale well with the rest of my collection, they have to have the right level of articulation, and they have to be figures of characters that I could imagine making that Faustian bargain of giving up their ability to transform in exchange for more raw power (which is mostly just Megatron, to me). Ultimately, these are toys and display figures, and, as long as someone is enjoying them in one of those capacities, then they're perfectly justified as far as I'm concerned.

Well, to be fair to all transformers... if they are not constantly transforming from one mode to the other, then they are either a robot or a car... on a shelf... behind glass... in a room with no direct sunlight... alone.

I'm cool with non-transforming transformers figures... but I absolutely hate statues and busts that don't have any moving parts. :thumb

Man, I am absolutely with you, especially since the statues and busts tend to cost hundreds of dollars. I've never quite seen the appeal, personally.
