    Both right IMO.

At risk of repeating myself, Cyclops look has always been "generic X-Man" blue and gold to the point where that's kind of his signature look. He was also the first of the X-Men to have the yellow straps on his chest as opposed to the yellow colorblock, and the first to have the red X logo on his chest. He is also the only significant X-man to have that be his iconic look. It is impossible to have that look and not call back to Cyclops and generic X-costumes.

Yep, they look same, X-Spanse has the y belts across his chest, yellow underwear, yellow boots, yellow gloves just like Jim Lee's Cyclops design. Oh wait, he doesn't. Literally the only thing specifically Cyclops about the design is the visor.

Again, you are welcome to your opinion, we all have them, but you are trying to present it as a fact when it is clearly not if you actually compare the 2 designs side by side

I can't be the only one that sees the evidence presented and thinks its pointing in the opposite way the poster intended, right?

Not that it will do any good (I've read enough posts from these folks to see that) but who cares, honestly. Fenrys is correct that this color scheme is "generic X-Men" from the original team and some of the members / teams afterward. I, and others, would contend that if it were JUST the color, saying this was fashioned after a generic X-men uniform would be correct. However, many of us seeing these colors, the bands, the X logo, the pouches, the yellow thigh bands, the visor, would contend that ALL TOGETHER the fist character that comes to mind is Cyclops. I want to use the word pedantic here because I can't think of any other, but I feel, again from experience, that it will just set off another round of "Why so snarky?" which is a defense mechanism I've seen from highly pedantic people in the past. I'm not being snarky. The contention seems to be that when those of us on one side say "This is clearly molded after Cyclops" we must be wrong because "the belt is an X not a Y" and "the colors are generic." So here's the concessions I would make in this oh so predictable of geek debates:

    1. The color scheme is from generic X-men uniforms.
    2. The robot's bands are an X with a red logo. Cyclops' uniforms has a Y and a red X logo.
    3. Given that the accessories contain a Psylock butterfly, psychic knife, and psychic wolverine claws, this bot is SUPPOSED to be a mashup.
    4. If you read the X-Men books, and especially read them in the 90s, looking at this figure immediately brings to mind Cyclops, whether intended or not, to like 90% of the audience. (10 bucks someone tries to do the math on this from past posts and says its more like 25%).
    5. Yes, saying that it was "clearly" or "absolutely" molded after Cyclops cannot be confirmed or verified without an interview with the designer. Again, considering the elements, I would say it is supposed to be a mashup, but I would also say that the elements were most likely pulled from the most iconic, well-known image of that suit, which just happens to be Cyclops from that cover and era.

Honestly, any further attempts to tell me I'm wrong will just make me giggle.

The original claim was that X-Spanse was using the Jim Lee Cyclops design. It is not, you can clearly see that if you look at the 2 side by side. Then it snowballed into the current debate. Does it bring to mind Cyclops? Sure, but that's partly because his suit is about as generic X-men as you can get aside from his visor, but to claim it is using a Cyclops design is like saying Ectotron is using Ray Stanz as his design. X-Spanse is clearly supposed to look like he is wearing an X-Men uniform, but it is not any uniform that Cyclops has ever worn.

Er, this figure IS heavily based on Jim Lee's 90s Cyclops design.

I don't know how you can see or say otherwise.

Because it's not. Look at the 2 side by side.

I would say he's gotta be trolling at this point, but I know a guy in LA that is exactly like this. He gets something in his head and he believes his logic is THE logic. Not putting him down, but it takes a lot of work to love a person like that. And I only have room for one of those in my life. Good luck with this journey, lol!

    Similarities:
    The color blue
    The color yellow
    straps on chest
belt with pouches and square X
    straps on legs

    Differences
X-spanse has silver in his colors
X shaped chest straps instead of y
    no yellow undies
    no yellow gloves
    no yellow boots
shape of visor (x-spanse's has antenna on them)
Cyclops has a black border around the x on the belt, X-Spanse has yellow
Cyclops has no cowl while X-Spanse's head design does call back to the original Cyclops cowl (not the Jim Lee design)
Cyclops leg straps are near his knees, X-spanse's are near his waist.

It only resembles Cyclops (beyond the visor) in a very general sense. If you actually look at the details of the designs they are quite different.

The claim was that it used the Jim Lee Cyclops design. When you actually look at the details of the design they are not all that similar. It'd be like saying that Transformer Prime uses the G1 Optimus Prime design because they're both red and blue, have chest windows and have face plates. Beyond certain things the details are very different which results in a different design. I'm not trying to get into an argument over this, but factually the two designs are pretty different, though they do share some similarities (as many 90s X-men designs do).

This is quite literally the definition of a semantic argument. Most of the dissimilarities are due to it being a transforming robot, and some are almost farcically minor, like the leg straps being too high on the thighs meaning they’re NOWHERE NEAR SIMILAR even though how many robots or X-men even have yellow bands on the thighs to begin with?

You compare the number of differences verses similarities as if that’s what counts, while completely failing to take into account that the similarities are far more significant in the design. The visor is not some small detail akin to not having yellow hands, the visor is Cyclops’ defining trait. That’s like making a Bat-mech that’s grey with black feet, black lower arms, a yellow belt, and a black head with pointy ears, but because it has silver joints or lacks the cape or the bat-symbol isn’t the same, it doesn’t look anything like Batman.

Come on, man. You can not be serious,

I stand by what I said. It is not "farcical" to say that X-Spanse is not using the Jim Lee Cyclops design and there is nothing about his design that is directly lifted from it. Yes, he has a visor, but it's not the same visor. Yes he has straps on his chest, but they're not the same straps etc etc. Honestly the fact that people don't see the differences in the designs is pretty astonishing (see what I did there :p ) to me

Agreed. It's hard to do a "generic X-Men" with the provisions that it has to be blue (to match the 90s Blackbird) and it has to have a visor (to show it has the powers of ALL the 90s X-Men) without looking a little like Cyke but given those design goals, IMHO, this looks about as little like Cyclops as you could manage. They even made the visor lift UP which Cyclops wouldn't walk around doing.

Yep, there's a lot they could have done differently if they had actually wanted it to adapt the Jim Lee/90s toon Cyclops.
