The backpack didn’t exactly lock but it held on on the second version. The hands weren’t changed but they lengthened the tabs on the rifles, making him able to hold them like a champ out of the box. They also fixed the issue with his ankle ratchet springs getting caught and uncoiling inside the foot. As far as I remember (I got rid of my V2 3 years ago for other reasons), they fixed the spoiler clearance as well. I don’t remember having any fear of that on my V2.

As for the elbows, the Japanese V2 didn’t mess that up. It had the good elbows. The Hasbro Asia reissue and the U.S. version, along with the more recent Takara reissue, added those shitty loose elbow flaps. Which were a definite downgrade but could easily be worked around by tucking the top of the flap into the slot before bending the elbow. On the whole, MP-9 V2 was a huge upgrade over the V1.

that doesn’t answer my question. I was asking where did the announcement of the V2 being fixed come from. I wasn’t doubting that the V2 had fixes, I was wondering if there was an official announcement from Takara, if it was a quiet message from Takara to retailers that retailers then told people about, or if people only discovered the fixes after buying V2.

Very much interested in this issue. I'm 99.9999% ready to press pay item for the Long Life China box MP-9 Rodimus Convoy. Has it really been fixed?

Yes that version is pretty much fixed, buy it.

Lol dude that still doesn't answer my question :lol
I know when v2 was released, I'm asking does anyone know what happened when it came out. Did retailers say 'hey TT say this is a fixed version'. Did TT go on twitter and say 'we've fixed MP-9!'. That's what I'm asking
I think only MP collectors who were active at that time might remember that stuff, and even then I wouldn't trust most people's memories :lol

I cant find the original video, because it's been years now. but either the person doing the review or somebody in the comments mentioned. Takara just released like any other release, and Japanese v1 buyers weren't happy about it. and they worked something out with sellers provided you had the original receipt. I dont remember if it was a full exchange or discount. The video may no longer be up or has another title so I cant corraborate it now.

Given they haven't admitted there is a problem, I would not expect them to say the problem is fixed. I mean they're even still selling the damn thing despite it being as broken as can be.

    Which review?

Hmm that's the first I heard of being able to exchange v1s with v2s, that's interesting. Was that in Japan only?

Sure but that depends on how they handled V2 Rodimus. If they were giving people exchanges for their broken V1 then that's a different story altogether!

Yeah this was most likely definitely in Japan, its the only way logistics like that would even work.I think @lord ginrai mentioned you get a 1 year warranty, so a new fixed version popping up after your warranty expired would definitely not make V1 buyers happy. I tried going through some old videos, this was back when I was looking for a Rodimus and the difference between V1 an V2, and V2 Rodimus use to get a lot more hits on youtube 5 or 6 years ago. @tekering is in Japan you may want to ask him to see if he remembered what happened. I think Macross is more his thing but he may have picked it up.

Sorry, I’m not being being deliberately dense, I just don’t recall exactly how I learned about the MP-9 V2 fixes or how TT disseminated that particular information. I was brand new to this site back in those days. In fact, I found this site looking for transformation tips and fixes for the MP-9 V1 back in 2011. Because my first few transformations of the V1, I could only get about two wheels touching the ground at a time.

I’m not sure if what TT did as far as releasing info back then would be truly predictive of how they would handle a rerelease of Hound now. They could handle this completely differently. I’m waiting for an update with baited breath, probably the same as you. My faulty V1 Hound is boxed up and headed back to Amazon today. I love everything about this figure but the crumbling plastic. I could live with a small crack or two but structural stuff is a no go for me. Especially when I paid the late tax and the figure in question cost an even $200.

Going to kick back with my refund for a week and see if anything good comes up on Amazon for Black Friday or Cyber Monday. I might jump on the plus Bluestreak or plus Smokescreen, if that comes back. Or maybe even the MP-9 reissue if there are deals on any of those. There’s one up there for $375 or so right now, but that’s more than I’m willing or able to pay right now.

Yeah true, we don't know if they'd handle it exactly the same. I imagine at the time of MP-9, runs were smaller, and MP-9 was going to get a reissue anyway because he probably sold out (it's been a pattern to release an MP after 9 months when the first run sells out, including MP-12, MP-27, MP-36). It was simple to fix the second run and maybe because it was a smaller run they were more willing to give people exchanges (if that's actually what happened).

I think they allowed trades or discounts for customers in Japan only back then. Didn’t do much for the rest of us but it appears that’s just how it is due to the arrangements between Takara and Hasbro.

I would get resigned to the probable fact that a V2 of Hound is going to be full price unless you live in Japan. If they actually fix it, I’m in. It’s an amazing figure in every way outside of the eggshell plastic.

BBTS did, I remember that fondly. The listing is of course lost in oblivion but it clearly stated that you will not be able to pull a fast one and trade "V1" for V2".

The article is here but like I said, the listing (that listed all fixes in a very detailed way) is gone.

MP-09 Masterpiece Rodimus Prime Version 02 - Original Version Flaws Fixed

It was unfortunately more of the same. The mold has flaws that were not addressed with those fixes. In essence, 2 steps forward and 1 and a half back.

I was so happy about V2 (MP-09 looks good, no doubt...I had hopes) but it was a disappointment. First ever MP I have ever returned (Hound is second).

Nothing beyond @Phamduc our source with Vietnam factory connections saying that Hound was being produced in the factory about a month back. Maybe it was a limited test run to sell to a very small Asian market to simultaneously check if they've fixed QC issues? No one knows.

Interesting, has this been done with MPs before or would this be a first-time scenario for the line?

To be clear, this is speculation I pulled outta my ass, don't take it as fact. Pham said Hound was in production I have no idea what that means, since clearly no reissue has been announced at any international online stores. Just conjecture on my part.

I believe Cheetor’s shoulders were fixed on the 2nd run as were Optimus Primal’s shoulder pads. Please, someone confirm or correct me if I’m mistaken.
