Overall impressions are good. Everything fit great, with the exception of Prowl and Bluestreak's rifle pegs needing a little filing down to fit comfortably in their hands. Prowl and Bluestreak's shoulder weapons articulate up and down with a pinned joint that works great. I do wish Bluestreak and Smokescreen's parts used a shiny silver paint instead of the grayish silver they did use. One unexpected and very cool detail is the little red translucent lens details on Bluestreak's shoulder weapons.

The wheel clip caps are a thoughtful touch but don't fix the wheels. They kind of upgrade them from janky to a slightly-less-janky, different janky. It's an improvement, but barely. There are also abdomen gap fillers for Prowl and Bluestreak included. They'll rarely be noticed but they are a cool touch.

These work much better for the Earthrise figures than the Matrix Workshop Siege upgrade kits, and I'm happy with my purchase.

 

lol is it bad that I want these now because of the lenses on Bluestreak's cannons?

I haven't gotten my figure yet so no idea if it will need it or not but it seems like an upgrade over a fix.

I just noticed that one of Prowl's shoulder missiles is missing its pin. I don't know if it never had one or if it fell out and is now who knows where. Not a big deal as I can probably stick another piece of wire in there to fix it, and I don't display Prowl with his shoulder weapons anyway. Still, something to watch out for I guess...

I've been wary of picking these up. They look great, but the axe that came with the ZXB Siege Prime set broke a few minutes after installation (a very thin plastic tab snapped that connected it to his wrist).

So on one hand, they look really nice in your photos. That missing pin doesn't inspire me, however...

 

Did anyone ever bother to make a ratchet's Operating studio or general accessories thread; if not I'll leave this here as I thought the folks who frequent this thread would be the one most likely to enjoy the set.



I like that you get a converter piece to make a shield and also the foot fillers are a nice touch and the leg extenders don't hurt him either.

I would have liked a gun placement converter for robot mode and doubly so if a slightly changed Titans Returns Galavatron version gets made too the can repositioner would be even more of a boon to me..

Some wings for Galavatron's jet mode would be super nice to have too - it always looks a bit lacking in that department.

My only real complaint with this set is that there is a few key gaps unfilled and I'd have prefered another method of addressing the wrist covers that is a bit more transformational like that Earthrise Grapple kit had) Over all though it still looks like a great idea and I was hoping someone would do something along these lines.

 

I'd be up for this, is it up for sale anywhere yet? The only thing I would have liked, personally, is a second 3-barrelled cannon for his other shoulder so he looks more symmetrical.

 

There is still certainly more space in the market for other upgrades to improve his vehicle modes a bit perhaps.

Honestly I think we should just make a TFSafari thread, since that's where all of these various kits are sold anyway.

 

EDIT : I have never played the War For Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron games so I was wondering if the weapons types are cross faction and if the energy accent colour changes with the faction using them ?

For example does an axe change from red to Purple - or do the Decepticons simply not get access to the same weapons - just wondering as I see some of the weapons as toy accessories and I don't really know what is what in detail - so I thought i'd ask- 'cause of Megatron's mace there.

ebay has things they don't from time to time. & the reverse is the case sometimes too.
Oh and speaking of eBay I think there is a Sunstreaker kit out now - it's nothing special though a fairly simple wing and a rather square looking rifle (based on heck knows what).

 

Forgot about getting a Super Megatron. Just bought him off TCP and paid a premium. I really want this kit, but I'll probably wait till after the holidays. Still a little skeptical ordering from Asia due to the timing and shipping times are probably going to be insane due to the holidays.

But it looks really cool.

 

I'm shocked somebody made a kit for Super Megatron. But I'm hoping somebody else comes along with a more substantial upgrade that helps his alt modes along - and gives him his gigantic Megaman boots.

 

Other than filling a few gaps, Megatron is so good on his own, he really doesn't need any help to be awesome.

 

The Boot fillers help the tank mode appearance a bit and the extra height in the legs is welcome too. I also rather like the Shield converter that is something I can get a lot of use from and not just on this toy (Titans Returns Deluxes with Shields spring to mind) the shield fillers also add to the robot mode appearance a bit too. - yes it's true that many of the pieces are not in super visible places - but the forearm covers are a good idea.

There is another option up already too - bit more money, but it has back of the leg fillers, and improved boots with WFC' power up's and effects parts capabilities added.




I'll likely get both sets and use the leftover pieces on TR Galvatron. But the new Boots and forearm covers I like much more on the new set.

As for what else he could do with - a set of vertical stabilisers would be very nice.
