I can't find those rumors, but I can't imagine they'd be true. I can't think of anyone less likely to make a Transformers movie than Nolan. He likes realistic and grounded movies. You can only make Transformers so realistic and grounded...I can't imagine Nolan would even want to do a movie based on cartoon toy robots. And each Transformers movie has steered farther and farther away from the semi-realistic approach of the first film.

Enjoyed All of them? I somehow doubt that.

Plus, it's technically about 1.5 years left till then. Good movies take time.
Besides, we still got Micronauts and Snake Eyes in the meantime.

There's apparently word of a Megatron origin-style spinoff in development.

Not really their “answer” so much as an entirely new concept that went on to influence G.I.Joe’s American revival.

G.I.Joe started as a single twelve inch body design with, for the time, high articulation. Takara purchased this base body design, but as the G.I.Joe image meant little in their culture, redesigned the toy with clear and chrome parts as “Henshin Cyborg.” The toy was a success, but as space was a premium in Japan, the toy was shrunken down and the play pattern adjusted from “big toy with little accessories” to “small toys with big accessories.” This meant the same amount of space a “Henshin Cyborg” occupied could fit several of these new “Microman” toys, and instead of just small weapons they could have larger toys act as accessories. The new, small body retained much of the articulation, which Hasbro used as the basis for their G.I.Joe revival in the 80’s following the same play pattern, and the subline of Microman called Microchange would even supply many characters like Megatron and Soundwave for Transformers’ first few years. Microman would also be ported over Transformers-style as Micronaughts, but not to the success of TFs or G.I.Joe.

Except no, because Micronauts was the American adaptation of a Japanese line that was at no point competing with G.I.Joe. It wasn't the "answer" because G.I.Joe was not a "question."

That's like saying Transformers is America's answer to Diaclone.

Not to be a Deborah Downer, but aren't those videos kinda bogus and go off of unsubstantiated rumours and are almost never correct?

"R-rated Megatron Movie" is almost surely fake. First off, I can't even see them attempting to pull off a PG-13 Megatron movie. Villain movies are tricky. If they're having trouble doing an Optimus movie, I can't see Megatron being any easier. But even if they did, Hasbro would never go for an R-rated movie. And a Megatron origin movie wouldn't even need to be R-rated...unless they're going to have Megatron start throwing around the F-word like crazy, robot violence probably wouldn't get an R (and I can't see any sexual content in Megatron's origin).

The thing about the Hasbro Cinematic Universe could be true. I personally think it would be a bad idea. Hasbro isn't like Marvel, where all the individual properties lend themselves to a grand interconnected universe. Sure you could do it, but there isn't a huge demand for it outside of the core fans of these properties. The vast majority of audiences don't care about seeing all these Hasbro properties team up. I think it would be smarter to just focus on making a good series of Transformers movies, and maybe cross it over with GI Joe later down the road if the stars align.
