Apollux has mentioned that Pipes is a retool, not just a repaint

 

Pipes is apparently a heavy retool. Animation accurate and all, but comic-accurate cannons attahed to his arms.

Ooooh, that's interesting. I wonder if Huffer has a pre-tooled toy accurate head on that mold's spruce, considering it might add to a potential selects redeco as a "Malignus Mercenary."

... Or Road Ranger. Or Armorhide?

 

Yes but I believe it's the blue on the chest plate's lower half that's rubbing my toon accuracy brain the wrong way. Not enough to be a deal breaker by any means lol. It's just thicker bands of blue than I'd like for the lower half.

 

You are not alone. That chest plate color was the 1st thing that bug the hell out of me. Not the biggest deal breaker as well for me since I will get him regardless, but part of me really want to make this version as the definite G1 Armor UM at that scale. I feel it's going to be along time before Hasbro makes another G1 Armor UM again. Unfortunately I see lots of disappointment in Kingdom UM e.g. no red bumper, still missing the autobot insignia on the right shoulder, the trailer is more of Siege than G1, the lower leg has red color (assuming the Kingdom Poster art holds up), etc.

 

With the way things are going? I'm sure they will withing the next few years. Even characters I never thought would be redone are getting remakes.

He also mentioned the cab was designed to allow both Huffer's and Pipe's unique transformation where they transform backwards from each other.

 

This is the rumour I heard and it’s the exact reason why I am now very much looking forward to Pipes. I don’t mind the legends class versions based on the OP mold from a few years ago but Huffer and Pipes will look much better with a proper update including their huge cabs hanging off their back. Pipes is specially exciting for me since he was one of only 2 minibots that I had as a kid.

 

I don't know what I'm gonna do with all these Magnuses! I have Siege on my Cybertron shelf, Takara Legends on my 1986 shelf, and City Commander on my 1987 shelf! And the Kingdom one looks great too! But I love all the other ones too much to get rid of any of them.

God, imagine telling people around 2008 when City Commander was coming out that we'd be drowning in Ultra Magnus figures in whatever style you wanted!

 

We\'re getting Huffer in the main line, but I have to hope my crappy local Walmart gets Bumblebee in stock and has it while I\'m there? Jeebus.

 

Looking at Huffer again, I wonder if it would be possible to fit Hoist inside the cab.....

 

Pretty wild that in 6 years of Generations, we’ve gotten 2 Bumblebees, one of which is a retailer exclusive

 

Studio Series is technically part of Generations, and MORE than makes up for it.  

 

So Magnus is essentially Siege Magnus with a retooled cab? Is there an Optimus with the same cab? Potentially a Nemesis with that same cab?

 

No, I doubt the Siege armour will fit the shape of the retooled cab. I’m guessing the whole trailer section has been retooled too.

I would have to believe so. They usually don't let potential Optimus repaints go to waste.

Hey, What is up with Huffer's painted shins, looks like the box art work isn't like that?

 

But what’s the point? We just got Optimus and Nemesis in the last few months. Hell, they’re re-releasing Optimus in Kingdom too.
