Agreed on Gears (like, come on) but my #1 choice would be Universe 2003 Leatherhide, so we could get the Mutant Soundwave mold without GPS.

 

DOTM Blaster (Blaster (DOTM) - Transformers Wiki), the holiest of the holy grail of cancelled DOTM figures:

1. The three cancelled mainline toys, Soundwave, Que, and Leadfoot are all getting superior remakes in SS, making their original DOTM figures redundant
2. The Movie Trilogy repaints (like red Ratchet, Soundblaster, and G1 Wheeljack) all got released as AOE Takara Movie Advanced figures, so they're like "uncancelled" figures

Blaster OTOH gets... nothing. Not a SS remake, not an AOE release, nothing.

He will always be my favourite forgotten figure

Ugh. This thread is depressing.

 

I really wonder how Takara planned to make this work in the 80s. Even with today's engineering, this would still be an incredibly ambitious figure to design. We've had multi-robot toys like Animated Shockwave/Longarm and Prime Wars Punch/Counterpunch but those were designed side by side to make their magic work. I don't think there was any thought of backwards compatibility with Megatron when Galvatron was being designed in '86.

Hopefully Hasbro gives this guy a try in Kingdom.

 

Animated Hotshot and Marauder Megs will always be my pick, but I've always been interested in where the pre-Animated Transformers Heroes line could've gone. The mockups of Rhinox and Hot Rod always looked interesting.

Everything I would’ve said first has already been mentioned, but I will say I was really excited about Combiner Wars Demolisher.

 

Its funny, TFwiki has a whole list of unused CW figures with new heads:

• Legends Class Bombshell had an alternate head as Venom.[10]
• Deluxe Class Trailbreaker has an alternate Hoist head that has thus far never been put to use at all. At one point, Fun Publications intended to utilize it for a BotCon 2016 troop builder set of Shattered Glass Autotroopers that did not come to fruition.
• Deluxe Class Rook had an alternate head styled after Brawl. In a preliminary plan for the Computron multi-pack, Hasbro planned to use this head tooling as Ironfist, under the trademark-friendly name "Ironclad". Fun Publications also had a secondary backup plan for this tooling as the Shattered Glass incarnation of X-Brawn, but neither of these figures came to fruition.
• Voyager Class Cyclonus has an alternate head as Starscream never used anywhere.
• Voyager Class Onslaught has an alternate Armada Demolishor head (seen on an unpainted off-color prototype) that has thus far never been used either.
• On top of that, the Voyager-sized Combiner Wars Constructicons [11] also all had alternate heads: Four of them were based on the Autobot Build Team from Robots in Disguise, supposedly with Bonecrusher as Wedge, Scavenger as Grimlock, Hook as Hightower and Long Haul as Heavy Load, while the remaining two were based on two of the three Generation 1 Small Autobot Targetmasters, Scrapper as Scoop and Mixmaster as Quickmix. The combined form would have been Landfill, which just so happens to also be the name of the third Generation 1 Autobot Small Targemaster besides Scoop and Quickmix.
