Question for TFX-6 Parallax Red Armor. In vehicle mode, are there any non Fans Project trailers that can work with it? I have a BTS Mobile Command and I don't want to look for and buy another trailer.

 

I'm not sure. I only have the Steelcore trailer and I doubt that would fit. The G3 trailer will probably work. It was made for Classics Prime but I'm not sure if the leg extensions would prevent it.

 

You can make a few different trailers work, especially if you were to make minor modifications to them. The real problem is that the armor lengthens the legs to such a degree that there is a pretty significant gap between trailer and cab. If that doesn’t bother you, then you’ve got three options.

The first option is the FansProject G3 trailer. This one fits with no modifications. It’s not the most secure fit (not as secure as the G3 with un-armored Classics Prime), but it’s decent:


Another option is the MP10V trailer, which is basically a down-scaled replica of the MP10 trailer. This fits too, albeit not quite as securely as the G3 trailer:


The BTS trailer can also work, but you’d need to modify it a bit. Basically, you’d need to lengthen the pegs on Roller by ~1-2 cm so the trailer sits up higher and level with the back of Prime’s truck mode. It would be a really easy mod; the question is whether you think the final result is worth it:


For me, I think that all of those options sit too far back. That’s a function of the legs being lengthened so much by the armor, resulting in the hitch being displaced so far back.

If you remove the leg armor while in truck mode, these trailers all fit much more readily. The G3 and BTS, for instance:



If that look (or the parts-forking required) works for you, you’ve got that option. As always, it all depends on your display and aesthetic preferences.

For me, even though I’m a certified Trailer Guy, I think the Parallax armored Prime looks ‘alien’ enough in truck mode that he works best without a trailer. Instead, I use G3 with one of my un-armored Classics OP, along with the City Commander armor ‘caboose’ (hitched to the back of G3). I use a lightly modified BTS trailer with MakeToys Striker Manus (the angles harmonize perfectly, IMO), and I use the MP10V trailers I have with MP10V, Earthrise Optimus Prime, and GenerationToy GT-03 OpEx.

I don’t use the BTS with Classics or FansProject Parallax, I use it with Striker Manus. But if you were to insert a machine screw into the trailer pegs that go into the ports on Roller (and thereby lengthen those pegs), you’ll be able to raise the trailer just enough to be level and fit over the hitch on the Parallax armored Classics Prime.

Honestly, I am at the point I think about selling most of this stuff. I only started collecting about two and half years agi, after medical issues stopped me from doing the other stuff I enjoy, like working on cars, playing golf, playing video games, etc..

 

So which is the more rare, X-7 Combes Robin or LER-01D Columpio? I can only afford one but I'm not sure which way I should go.

 

No idea on the rarity factor of either, other than I don’t see Combes Robin up for sale very often.

I own both and enjoy CR more. But full disclosure, I don’t own Smart Robin.
