Great figure, but his wings have 2 useless floppy pivot joints so they always lay down. I cut out a bit of cardstock so the mushroom peg would have more friction. Unfortunately the second hinge is pinned and still loose. I'll probably just try to jam glue in there with a hobby knife.

I'm going to give this a shot myself in a few minutes. Mine suffers from this as well, so it would be nice to have a figure that functions. Cool idea, thanks for sharing.

Actually i have a question, the "still sucks" joint. Is it held together with a normal pin or is the other side capped?

Capped and the plastic has some flex is why it's loose. You can't just punch it out, they put it in hot. There's enough give to open it a little more, but not enough to get the pin out in the 5 minutes I tried or squeeze it tighter together.

damn! If it were a normal pin it would be a hell of a lot easier to fix, though the same idea could still work, just needs modified a bit.

Get much thinner styrene and cut yourself a washer.
Would have to be shaped like this to get around the pin. (slotted washer)

same idea as it would have been it it were a normal pin, but youknow, the washer has a slot in it now to get around the pin.

I just got my Sky Lynx and I'm having the loose wing on the mushroom peg issue. I'm taking a look at it and the actual joint it pegs into is screwed in because it's made of a slightly different plastic with a little more flex. What if a two part shell could be printed to completely enclose the mushroom, held together by the screw could be designed and 3d printed? Then tolerances could be adjusted, and even if it's still flopping, it at least won't pop off or maybe the tightness could be adjusted with the screw

Huh. My wings are mostly okay, but it's the *tail* that's droopy and sad.

Thanks for this! I used it on the wings as well as the upper part of the bird legs! I Used future on all the other joints and everything is great now!

awesome, this is exactly what ive been looking for.

as for the pinned joined, i assumed it just sits flat on the upward strut, and the movement for angling the wings up or down comes from the ratchet connecting it to the body

I don't have this figure any more, but I remember the floppy pin joint still limited the articulation. Someone was saying you can just buy the active ingredient for floor polish at a hardware store. I'd suggest dunking it in that a couple times to tighten it up.

I'm having the same wing issues. Never tried the floor polish solution before. What is the active ingredient?

Not sure of the actual active ingredient by name; but essentially it's a floor polish. So an application of it, or multiple, will build up a protective coat which will in turn increase the friction area; resulting in tighter joints.

It's a must have if you are into any sort of articulated figure collecting.

it is just acrylic mixed with some perfume agents or whatever. it is ok and lots of folks swear by it. but it is not a silver bullet.

the other thing guys love is kiki. but if you ask me that is just overpriced rebranded snake oil. it is nothing more than water based poly.

just go to walmart or any big box store and grab a small little pint of minwax. it is cheaper like 5-10 and will last a lifetime with any collection. it is water based for easy clean up and non permanent fixes. it doesnt flake off like floor polish and it comes in various finishes. i use it and swear by it.
