I always get them 1-2 weeks after release since I buy from BBTS/TFSource.

AmiAmi here and since Japan Post and EMS is down atm for the US, I'll be going with DHL, which should be between 3 and 4 days.

The dollar's getting weaker again. Add tax on top and this figure is 15% more expensive than when it first went up for preorder.

Yeah, *sigh* makes me wish I’d paid it off with gift cards earlier in the year. Well, here’s hoping for a stronger dollar by the time it ships.

I dont work in FX but understand the general forecast is for the dollar to weaken by c.20% over the next half year due to macroeconomic pressures.

Edit: went back to re-read the financial press because 20% seemed like a lot and yes, I was over egging it. The headline was analysists talking about 20%, but it seems most are more like 5%.

You bet wrong. If the dollar loses 20%, it will be more expensive than stateside.

At today's rate, we are looking at 130 dollars all in (assuming 10% tax). That's only 20 dollars less (around 12%) than the price at US retailers.

But, even if it weakens that much, that'll be after Arcee is released. Also, AJ is not charging sales tax for all US orders. Im in FL, and still not getting hit with it.

So yes, still cheaper than any US retailer.

Yeah, it will not affect people who buy this year, that's for sure. In terms of not getting charged for sales tax, I have a friend from FL who bought Sentinel Dancouga from Amazon. He didn't get charged sales tax either, but his final price was adjusted upwards by the amount of the sales tax, so .....

For people who missed MP-51 PO from Amazon, let me throw a lifeline: Transformers Masterpiece MP-51 Arcee Action Figure

134.99 from an American based retailer (shipping INCLUDED). They do charge upfront, but I've used these guys before and they are solid.

They take forever, see MP19+ thread. At this point if it's something you want eat the $10 domestically and get it in a week versus 5 months.

If anything shipping overall is going to be more expensive from Asia.

My experience with them has been a bit inconsistent. For example: I got my Three A OP Bumblebee from them early this year while other retailers didn't have any yet. And other times, they've been slower. My take is they get their stuff in batches that are sometimes months apart.

Sorry to keep bringing up Earthrise Arcee. She's all I've got at this point! Anyway it's kind of weird how with the MP and the previous CHUG Arcee they have the front of the car as the outer shell of the backpack. The rear of the car folds underneath. But the Earthrise one has a massive rear end (get your minds out of the gutter!) for the car and it ends up as the outer layer of the backpack. I assume for the "hover board" gimmick but it makes it look so much worse in both modes. I'm happy the MP went the other route. And I'm also interested to see how the rear of the car gets narrower to fit inside the front end in the backpack. I'm assuming the pink parts fold inwards to end up partially under the white part.

Interesting, I wonder if it even varies county by county. I've also been following the sales tax development from AJ, also from the Sentinel and Macross threads. So I'm aware that it just kinda "shows up". Regardless, I've got both a fulfilled preorder, and a brand new in stock order, both shipped and sold from Amazon Japan in just the past few weeks. Both had the final price with the full 10% Japanese tax removed. My MP-52 preorder is also lower than the majority of people who have posted their final costs, exactly the difference of no tax whatsoever, versus thier added local tax.

Soo is there a good place to buy MP-51?

Usually I’d go with BBTS but given the delay from MP-49’s initial release to it being instock at BBTS 1-2 weeks later, I want to have some sort of fast shipping when it releases. Amazon can’t ship to Australia directly I think and I don’t trust how they handle pre-orders, so any other trusted sites?

I'm in Australia and Robotkingdom is definitely a great place to buy from HK. Nippon Yasan has also been pretty good from Japan to Australia. But now with COVID restricting air mail from Japan but is still available from HK, I think RK is the way to go. I have Spinout and Arcee both preordered with RK. Hope they ship out Spinout soon.

RK is my go to but they haven’t been able to ship (legally) to Korea for about 12 full months now. It’s NUTS! Japan can ship to Korea but they now have to ship through Hong Kong and then to Korea. Right through RK!!! WTH is that!??

I have the TT Legends Arcee and Earthrise Arcee as deskbots this week. I believe the MP version shares some engineering from both but the car hood as the chest as well as the sculpt is definitely more closely related to the Legends version.

The Legends figure has the same “shelf chest” issue as the MP and it looks pretty bad from a side profile view. But on my desk and viewing it from an isometric view from above it looks fine and not all that different from the Earthrise version with the fake chest. So I think the MP will look fine from most angles. I think that side profile shot of the MP is really exaggerating the issue.

Also I think Takara did an excellent job compressing the whole car into the MP’s backpack. It’s much better than the Earthrise version which essentially does the same thing but with less moving parts. The Earthrise version has a truly massive and ugly backpack that is too heavy for the figure. I have to lean her forward to balance her in a normal A-stance or she will fall over. Edit: Yes you can remove most of the Earthrise backpack but I really hate parts forming so it stays on for me.

Anyway having two Arcees on my desk this week is making me even more anxious for the MP. I’m looking forward to having all three on my desk so I can compare the sculpts. My kids and I prefer the Legends version over the newer Earthrise figure and I expect the MP to surpass both by a long ways.
