Yeah, even officially (with shows, movies, etc.) he has a cover over the Matrix itself so it can't be seen if he opens his chest windows.

 

Only exception I can think of is Cybertron where the cover left the handles and gem exposed so the light shone through his windows

 

Studio Series Scourge looks bad. The colours are too close to purple and his thighs look weak. I think the Titans Return figure is more in line with how I remember him from ye olde times whenst I was a lad. A big blue bearded bathtub baddie!

 

Unpopular Opinion: I miss the variants of transformers in sub-lines. E.g. : Sidearm Sideswipe in HFTD.

That deco really is killer. Too bad it's Bayverse - not really my thing - but the alt mode looks great!

Wow I wish I’d discovered this thread sooner anyway here are my unpopular opinions. Bayverse designs are better than G1 designs as their complexity creates more in depth and creative engineering. Also SS86 I am not excited for in the slightest it’s more G1 in a G1 dominated landscape. They should have at least broken up the first wave leaving room for the cooler Bayverse designs and for characters who have literally never had figures made or characters who desperately need figures

 

SS86 is a completely different line than Studio Series. There aren't going to be an live action movie designs in SS86 at all.

 

SS86 is an SS subline meaning it takes up slots that should be going to Live-Action characters.

 

The reason is probably because Hasbro wanted to do Beast Wars, G1 and Live Action. It's great for me since I love all three.

Ideal Pretenders updates - all in the vein of Thunderwing and Skullgrin, fusing the shell and alt mode together, and make them all deluxes

 

Why do you say all deluxes? Is that just a budget thing or would voyager+ be too big for them? Bludgeon and Thunderwing were rather large characters iirc, no?

 

Just preference, the only real benefit of Pretender technology is its protection. At that point you've kind of thrown disguise out the window so there's no need for the vehicles to be appropriately scaled relative to each other. Makes more sense to me that it's a kind of standardized upgrade.

 

Feeling dumb I didn't think of this sooner. The Headmaster heads as Pretenders. My take? I fucking love it.

 

You're right not necessarily taking away slots because by the time the SS line is concluded years from now we'll most likely have everyone from the movies. I just want to see some of these characters released sooner rather than later and SS86 pushes those characters back.

 

It doesn't even do that. It was developed independently and got shuffled into SS when Kingdom became Beast heavy. We're getting plenty of Bay characters and will continue to get them at the same rate as before. SS86 has no impact, its just more toys on the shelf

 

Probably, there being enough variants of that mold already, just a yellow deco seems dull.
