are you putting the energon cubes through the cheese grater to make a decepticon pizza???  

just got my NA soundblaster today. just about to open the box.  

'tis the 3rd mold for me.  

*sigh*, why did newage make red frumble that comes with soundblaster with white jetpack & feet? but both toon and toy blue frumble with grey jetpack and feet???  

 

Thanks for noticing that, it's small enough that I possibly couldn't care but also small enough that it would bother me that I would want them to match lol.

Rumble almost looks the same and Ravage and Laserbeak just have black instead of gray

*sigh* what i'm most annoyed with is even after making 6 separate purchases between NA and MS, i still don't have soundwave and squad that i'm completely happy with.  

if MS ravage wasn't such a "dog" (literally) and i could get my hands on MS blue frumble without having to buy yet another set, i could maybe settle with MS.  

and i don't understand what NA is doing with the mismatched frumble set of colours, as well as there being a black toy version of ravage and laserbeak, but there's no black version of buzzsaw, only the grey one that comes with soundblaster.  

 

No toy Ratbat or Frenzy either

 

Ha!  They usually only use finest buffalo mozzarella slices but the store only had cheddar!
- I didn't realise that about the back guns, it's a shame there are so many configurations but nothing that can really match perfectly. Oh well!

Ah crap, "slower than to Sweden" is not an accolade to be glad of! 

 

Just MST Soundwave, Soundblaster and tape set and I am done or else it goes crazy.
The look of NA Soundwave is good but I just do not like the tapes, MST knocked it out of the park...well Ravage a side that is.
Not perfect but good enough, I mean look at what we had before with the DX9 and HS version.
Those were not great either  
So both NA and MST sets are a big improvement.

 

Yeah man I feel the same. I have to stop now otherwise I'll be forever tweaking my SW setup. In my case the NA cassettebots will have to do, they're good enough for me, even if I would prefer Rumble/Frenzy from MS, it's just too much extra for me. At least I've got metallic MS SW as an alternative!

 

so TFSource and BBTS still don't have them in. Should I be concerned?

 

Why not order from somewhere else? As far as I’ve heard BBTS is always last at getting stock.

 

I got a big surprise from the postman this morning!* Am damn pleased with these fellas! The toon blue is defo too dark but otherwise, bam!!

yeah when you have toon and sounblaster side by side, you can barely tell them apart. it's like i bought two of the same deco!  

 

Toon and Gold Lagoon showed up yesterday, wanted to share my general thoughts. This is my first ever G1 Soundwave mold after passing on everything from the MP to other Legends scale figures (by the time I could afford the MP it felt outdated, and the other Legends fell just short), so it's nice to finally feel like I have a definitive, pocket sized version of the character.

• Great QC and joint tolerances all around, typical for Newage.
• The lower leg transformation is incredible. It's easy to feel your way through after the first couple passes, but everything flips and folds in a way that wrinkles my brain every time.
• The ab crunch is simple but effective—it adds a ton of expression without that "broken/disconnected" look you tend to get with Magic Square figures.
• The cassettes do their job... just poseable enough in their bot/animal modes and I appreciate that they transform into somewhat uniform bricks. I wish Frumble's knees were on ball joints so they had the equivalent of thigh swivels.
• I wish there was a hole inside Soundwave's backpack so you could push the cassettes out from behind. The light-up block went in kinda tight the first time, and I'm afraid that if I even try to squeeze Ratbat in there I'll never get it out.
• The wrist magnet really should have been on the outside edge of the forearm instead of the front. If you pose Soundwave as if he's "checking his watch" (basically the same as you'd hold a bird), you'd want the magnet facing upwards so you can set Laserbeak on top. Instead the magnet faces sideways in this position, which defeats the point.
• For the Gold Lagoon version, it would be great if some of the details were picked out in a slightly different shade of paint. For example I think it would look great if the cassette window frame, playback buttons, kneecaps, etc were more of a "white gold" than yellow.
  
• Random observation, but it's possible to transform it to robot mode without removing the battery guns.

I know that list points out more cons than pros, but they're all minor and I'm honestly super pleased to have both versions that I bought.

 

if you do the ab crunch, there's an opening underneath to the chest cavity, though i'm not sure if it's actually any easier to poke any cassettes out that way.

as for the wrist magnet, i would have liked it placed on the side with the longest edge of the fore-arm, just so there is more pose-ability in using the elbow bend with it perched, like your reference to "checking his watch".

but your reference to where a falcon would perch on someone's arm is incorrect if you believe it's the location where a watch face would be on your wrist. so technically the magnet is in the correct placement, and would have been fine if they added an extra fore-arm swivel without repositioning the magnet.
