So yeah recently Capcom got hacked and had its presentation/ideas planned leaked for everyone. Massive Capcom Leak Reveals Resident Evil 4 Remake, A New Shooter, And More Capcom: Up to 350,000 people could be affected by ransomware leak Massive Capcom Leak Exposes Resident Evil 8 Release Window Update Regarding Data Security Incident Due to Unauthorized Access | CAPCOM This does reveal some interesting info of future games some good and some bad.
I love the slide show which has Abby from TLOU2 as a positive female character, but Peach and Zelda were bad.
Capcom's plans to be more westernized in this way's really making me worried cause the last time they attempted something like that almost made them bankrupt and had a lot of people hate them for it. They have to be insane if they think doing that again will make them profitable especially if they think taking inspiration from TLOU2 the most infamous game of 2020 or at least among the most infamous 2020 game is a great idea. It's also sad because they've been doing a lot to win people back in recent years. Sure things like the Resident Evil 3 Remake didn't sit well with a lot of people but even then they weren't enough to bring the company down so the idea of them throwing it all away for doing the idea that almost got them dead last time is so frustrating especially for someone like me that's beginning to get into the RE franchise. I REALLY hope they change their minds about this. If they must take some Western inspiration they should at least do it the right way and take inspiration from games that should be inspired from and not games like TLOU2.
As far as the Westernization rumors go, I guess for me it'll ultimately comes down to how they do Street Fighter 6. On the other hand, data thieves (and I loop Identity Thieves with them too) are total scum and should have tougher consequences in the justice system.
If those release schedule and sales projection documents are legit then holy shit are they going to be getting my money in a few years time. The online shooter and Twitch bait games don't sound like a particularly good idea though given their track record of blowing huge amounts of money on market bandwagon jumping with little worthwhile return.
Ok then. If it isn't Megaman or Devil May Cry, I don't care. On the DMC2 source code is found, if I had to guess, fans have long requested a remake of DMC2 as it barely fits in the timeline, and outside of an interesting game aesthetic, the game is pretty bad.
They really have been, MVCI was pretty lackluster, but They brought Megaman back after a 9-year hiatus and DMC5 after 11 years, which is one of my all-time favorite games.
It's kinda fucked up leaks been happening left and right, it's the ultimate betrayal for any video game developer to have their content leaked. I do hope legal action is atleast taken on whoever done this.
Considering this was the result of a ransomware attack and not a leak in the first place and included things like personal information, I'm sure Capcom would love to pursue legal action against the perpetrator. I know some will see this as being pedantic or splitting hairs, but to me a leak implies that someone who had legitimate access to sensitive/confidential/privileged information knowingly/willingly gave it out to those who didn't. However, this incident was out-and-out theft (as was a previous "leak" with Nintendo earlier this year). Mostly I want to make the distinction because some people seem to treat leaks as a public service (not so much here as elsewhere in my experience). I don't agree with that myself, but so it goes. However, gamers as a community (and gaming news outlets) should acknowledge that what happened here was not okay, and they shouldn't be celebrating what comes out of this kind of attack.
I agree with Cyber Blade. There’s a big difference between an employee telling a website that they’re working on Street Fighter 6 (usually those kind of “leaks” are intentional anyway) and someone flat out stealing information.
I read "Dragon's Dogma 2" and I was so incredibly happy for a minute. And then after I realized that I might actually have to buy a new system to play it, the thought of having to go through all that mess made me incredibly sad. Regardless, the way this information was obtained was inexcusable.
