I'm excited to get this, though I really wish they'd have modded the midsection to not be so slender.

 

yeah with you on this apart from idw it was marvel for me

the japan cartoons after are still considered g1 too...... but as said already nightbeat was in the comics not cartoon

 

OH YEAH! I knew they’d get around to this! Now I feel like I have to get both of them, but I don’t have either. Heard the QC and materials are bad though. Probably worth it though.

 

It looks okay, but he really needs some remolding in robot mode to reduce the similarities to Minerva. A thicker torso and arms would go a long way to differentiate the two.

 

I might be on board if this was Legends scale..maybe CHUG but already have one.

It was Marvel for me too starting with his intro in Matrix Quest. Although, when making my custom kreons, I went with the IDW design more instead of the Marvel one. Almost finished with Nightbeat's twin sister, Minerva   I figured, why not? Same 3d model, just has eyes instead. Plus there's a short comic strip I've been wanting to make about them.

 

Hmm, should be easy enough to swap in Athena's extra face...

 

Not a fan or gonna buy this either way, but I tend to follow Fanshobby, ever since I got their Overlord.

Just wanted to chip in, that perhaps like the aforementioned figure, if enough noise is raised, perhaps they can redesign it, as per
the fandoms wishes. After all there is a precedent.

Heres to hopping this gets done as most of you want the figure altered  

 

seeing these pictures late, but yeah i'll add to the chorus. needs more remolded parts. still looks way too similar to the svelte bodied minerva. also the deco needs to be worked on too. the light bar for one is the wrong color but thats easily fixable. waiting for more updates on their ace hitter now because most likely (unless they make substantive changes) skipping this. TBH the porsche doesn't look good in this color scheme either or else i'd strongly consider it- dont' faul tthem for that though.

Also. .. I'm so going to need a female conversion kit because I still want that female evil minerva from the Legends comics!

 

I know Fans Hobby took some liberties with the Minerva design, and she was still a cool figure. I do wish they'd do a couple more updates to the mold for Nightbeat. The key things to me would be rework the lower torso to be bulkier, revisit the chest to look more symmetrical to the original design, make the yellow feet blue and he would look a lot closer to the G1.

 

I would say all Transformers that existed before the release of "Generation 2" is technically, by no stretch of logic "G1".

 

Gonna have to add my vote to the "needs more work" opinion. The robot mode is just too similar to Minerva. As for the car mode, Ideally I'd like the light bar gone, but I like the idea of tying in the colors on the light bar with the roof hinge on the old G1 toy as a compromise.

Who says they are not? And did he have one in any G1 animation cartoons? (Jap or US) (The hinge on the original toy looks kinda like a wanna be light bar.)  

 

This is frustrating to look at. I like the way this mold looks (always have), and I like Nightbeat and his color scheme. But I know it still partsforms. And I know that the legs are probably still flimsy-feeling. But I'd be lying to say I wasn't tempted by this. Stupid Fanshobby is Lucy holding the football for me here...

 

Maybe one of the trenchcoats meant for Marvel Legends Things will fit him...

 

This mold needs a total makeover in terms of legs, arms and waist.

can’t help but wonder if it is intentional that none of these photos show him just standing straight and all photos somewhat obscure body proportions, probably disguising what we all know is there.

 

Key word details. We got Minerva and it had a serious lack of paint over the entire body like this one is likely to have with the blue molded plastic. That does not work well with the flame detail on the sides. I am probably still in with the lower price but this was definitely a poorly designed mold with a lower quality than their other figures. The color blue they have picked for the plastic is fine for the paint as well but this needs a glossy finish to make those flame details pop. Right now the flame details look flat and muted.
