I’m pretty sure Mattel, not Hasbro, has the license for mass-market DC comics toys.

I understand that, but wasn't SS Jetfire also licensed and was only 50$?

LOL. Hasbro pegged the wings on wrong in every one of their product shots, at least the CG on the back of the box is accurate :lol  man, the lack of effort and attention to detail at this company damn

Yea, I was thinking more as a concept than looks though, just how in the Marvel universe it's possible for machines to copy/replicate mutant powers

Mattel lost the license to DC, McFarlane toys has it now

Crossovers have had a consistent markup.
Ectotron was $40/$50 instead of $30
Gigawatt was $30 instead of $20
Maverick was $50 instead of $30
    and X-Spanse is $65 instead of $50

I think it looks like the best of the Crossovers so far.  The face has too much character for me though.

I want to wait until the reviews, but it's X-men, a Blackbird, and a Transformer rolled into one.

I am really glad i was able to snag this one. I love the look and it feels way more like Giggawatt and Ecto Tron to me. They all feel like they could drop in on the chug verse just fine, Maverick, I ended up cancelling my preorder because it just so bleh compared to the others.

Those wings look like different pieces altogether. Lockheed's probably told them no for the forward swept style

    what a mess.

Wrong colors (blue in those old comics and especially shows is shorthand for black, they don't make it black because of the black outlines)

Wrong name - unless, did stye call it the X-jet on the 90s cartoon? because it's supposed to be the Blackbird (maybe there's legal stuff there since the Blackbird is the name of the real plane this is based on)

Wrong design for the era it's representing (should be the forward swept wing Jim Lee-designed black bird as seen in the 90s cartoon that the packaging is emulating the era of)

but then it's not even accurate to THIS version of the Blackbird, with the weird intakes and blunted nosecone (was this design ever used on one of the shows I'm unaware of?)

and the bot mode is overly kibble, noisey and busy.

It's not all bad though, the Head sculpt is rad, and YAY it comes with mini-figures like I suggested yesterday and should be standard with this line I'd think. (especially at the prices) but disappointing and a pass from me.

The name, actually is correct as it is an accepted nickname for the jet and probably easier to license for a jet shaped toy than paying Lockheed Martin.

They didn't that I can remember. A cursory Google search suggests it was mostly the movies that called it that, though the wiki page did note that it was a nickname.

Does anyone know whether or not Ultimate X-Spanse is a completely new mold figure?
