Humor the idea for a minute. Suppose Hasbro/Takara decide to make a new rendition of Victorion in another series of combiners. What would/should they change? Specifically the engineering.

Would the designers attempt a Liokaiser-styled (making Rust Dust the hips and Pyra the rest of the torso) or something akin to Pirahnacon/King Poseidon (Rust Dust being a limb or Battlemaster)?

EDIT: For clarification I'm not talking an updated version with Combiner/Prime Wars engineering. I'm talking engineering from the ground up.

 

I'd suggest working in the PotP and Piranhacon fembots so there's less repetition if it's just a redeco and/or Takara Selects release. Maybe a painted/no sticker Elita torso.

I'm basically imagining a new fembot combiner in those colors that reuses two of the Victorion limbs.

Honestly, the original reminded me so much of G2 Rapido that I'd argue for him as a sixth optional member from PotP Jazz's base, which I think would be a better Rapido than Jazz.

Let him be Bow to Victorion's She-Ra.

 

I've always thought about an "updated" Victorion, so I might as well throw out my thoughts.

For starters, make the twins separate molds/engineering designs. If they have to have mostly-identical robot mode cosmetics, that's fine, but at least throw out what was very likely a clerical error of putting identical questions one after the other. However, I know having matching limbs for the legs or arms is one of Victorion's draws for some, so maybe this is an unfeasible concept.

I also think richer colors would be nicer on a second go, however garish it may be. At the very least, make the old seafoam green slightly more blue.

I wouldn't be opposed to having Rust Dust form a weapon in addition to a component, though in terms of forming a more crucial component maybe she can bring the head? I'm sure that would be a engineering nightmare both irl and in-universe, though. Having a critical component attached to a smaller character I imagine would be hard to work around, especially since it would mean Pyra Magna can't form a functional torso on her own since she would no longer be carrying the head.

 

Tone down the colours and add some white or more silver into the mix

For the car limbs extensive retools of the moonracer mold (possibly jazz as well though that won’t be as accurate in bot mode), like the new dinobots and abominus, new pieces to beef up combined mode and provide stability (new chest plate that attaches the bike better)
A new head closer to the source art
A new sword still made out of several smaller weapons but with a longer handle and no more clear plastic
A gun that you can optionally attach the bike to like idw did

and anything to make her taller and better proportioned

 

Id love to have a G1 toy for them designed ... But I too have wondered how they'd go about doing it.?.

 

I think the team could be redesigned, not the individual robot modes, but more so the combined form.
I think that the red and the pale Glow in the dark green was an odd color choice for the team, I had the idea that if I were to pick their color scheme,
I would have gone with the team having a heterogeneous color scheme with the team taking on color palettes inspired by the planets in our solar system.
Pyra Magna colored icy blue and denim blue like Uranus, Dust Up being Red like Mars, Jumpstream being green and blue like the Earth, Stormclash being tan and orange like Venus,
Skyburst being Dark blue and indigo like Neptune, and Rust Dust being grey like Mercury.
Then I would have designed the combined mode head to be more like a Valkyrie helmet complete with wings. I think that would have made her look pretty cool and very unique.

 

Even if they cannot combine, are still repaints and only one or two are released?

 

No, they deserve to fall into the Obscurity Abyss where they belong.

 

We need a collector-focused IDW line, preferably in the CHUG scale. The figures would be accurate to IDW, gap-free, hyper-articulated and fully transformable. I'd want the pricing to be between MP and CHUG, with deluxes at $40 Voyagers at $60 and so on. A better-articulated set of Torchbearers would make for a good gift set in a line like this.

 

Victorion doesn't matter, but Megatronia is worth it.

 

I don't feel they deserve it right now. They can honour march their way to the Sea of Rust where they came from.

 

How can a fictional character deserve something?
Do they perform chores around the house?

Give my lovely ladies some more releases! And repaint those releases into Megatronia! I mean, now that Trickdiamond is in IDW canon, why not?

On a side note, Victorion herself got SOO many different designs in IDW that would translate well into Flame Toys figures. If done well enough, I might even buy one of the 3K figs! Gimme!!

"Deserve" is a weird concept, but yeah, I would be up for toys of at least some of them that was more in line with their comic designs. Same for Megatronia, although the manga designs for them were a bit closer to the toys than the Torchbearers.

Although, I would be much more up for giving characters without any toy at all a shot first, to be fair.

 

They deserve nothing. They were just slip shot defensor repaints.

But Megatronia on the other hand....

 

I think they do, but I’d like to see a bit of a redesign. Give the characters a bit more diversity in paint jobs. You can still give them a uniform look, but don’t go with blue-green and orange this time around. Maybe keep those colors to the trim.

 

This would probably be the second best line in the franchise’s history, right behind Studio Series 86.
