Not really. It has to do with down scaling g physical materials. If a full scale gundam has, for argument sake, 5cm thick armor, that is going to translate to a fraction of a mm thick at 1/60 scale which is impossible to mold. There needs to be a min thickness to produce. PG kits have layers of construction and clearance and building the cockpit then layering structure and the more structure and articulated joints then armor, the just run out of space. Since the exterior design and scale are of paramount importance, that interior cockpit and pilot get sacrificed. Mass shifting is some magic way of trying to explain away a dynamic scale change. This is having to make a sacrifice for down scaling physical production and materials. If PG would forgo all the internal structure, they could certainly do an in scale cockpit Yes, diaclone works because they are not trying to match anything. They are designing everything around the pilots.
Thanks for that clarification! Wow, I didn’t realize there was that much internal structure. Now it seems odd again that they choose to make the cockpit and pilot so far off scale rather than just changing internal structure. Oh well, maybe it would make more sense if I were to build one. Or maybe not.
There are definitely some hurdles but it looks like the PGU might rectify some of that The pilot looks like it may be closer to 1:60, much closer than the 1998 PG The 98 was much smaller than 1:60, I'm hoping the PGU will fit Diaclone Reboot pilots whom are only 7 inches taller than the youngest Amuro Ray pilot 5'5 vs 6
Just bought my first diaclone! A Tridigger! Oh it come with decal? How do u guys paste them? Any particular area? I go through the manual but don’t see any instructions on them
Are those the magnet stickers? I think you can put them in a number of places so that you can mount the Dia-naught pilots.
They’re not the magnet stickers, they’re numbers for the shoulders. Choose the number you want to use out of the range on the sheet. If I had multiple Tridiggers, I’d use them. Seems a little pointless with only one. I also with they were white numbers on a clear or black sticker rather than black numbers on white. If you do put them on, post some photos! And congrats on getting a Tridigger, it’s a great figure!
Still trying to get hold of DA-14, DA-17 or DA-33... still can’t find 1... if anyone know where I can get 1, do pm me! Thanks
I noticed the other day that searching at HLJ actually turns up an active listing with status “discontinued” for big powered DA-14. It’s the first result: Search results for: 'Diaclone' direct link: https://www.hlj.com/diaclone-da-14-big-powered-gv-tkt89910 I’ve seen this before in their website and sometimes it happens when stock “might” be coming or somehow a limited quantity becomes available, so if you are looking for big powered, highly recommend you keep checking that link. It’s unlikely but possible they could get a few somehow. best option otherwise is to watch secondary market sites like Mandarake or a yahoo Japan auctions proxy like Buyee. Mandarake seems to get the occasional trade in of a whole collection and their prices are pretty good.
Yep, as someone who has bought a few in the last month, Yahoo Auctions Japan has been the most reliable source. If you’re after new/unopened the going rate is around US$500 (plus fees, plus shipping), and in my experience DA-14 is easiest to find, then 17 and surprisingly 33 has been the most difficult. When I started looking a couple of stores still had stock but that quickly dried up. I did see a DA14 with DA15 bundled go for sub $400 this past week though, so still bargains to be had especially if the auction is ending during US evening. You can also try Carousell HK, but it’s difficult to find anyone that will ship international there. Also don’t trust Nippon Yasan’s listings. In the words of Admiral Akbar, “it’s a trap!” Good luck!
So, why are you sad? As far as i know, you paid a little bit less than €371. If i had enough money to buy both da-33 and gigantor (that is my priority right now), i would be glad to pay even €450 (kinda like $534) for that, shipping excluded. If you really wanted it, you did the right choice. I never regretted a purchase with this line, not even when i bought da-37 (strike buffalo) for €280+shipping ($350 total) and i got it with a broken part from a site who just couldn't replace it. I just needed the powered suit and the arms actually, to power up my cosmo diabattles, but yet i didn't regret it. They're expensive toys, yeah, but they worth the price. If yours will have no issues (and you have 99.98% chances that it will be fine), then $440 looks like a fair price, expecially for something that is unavailable nearly everywhere. Also, the price didn't seem to grow since when it's been first released, another thing i think you should feel lucky about (P.S. please forgive eventual mistakes, vodka makes me forget even how to write in a proper english)
Thanks to @fujikuro my Waruder forces have become much more powerful! I’ll take some better photos later, for now here’s a quick lineup.
I'm gonna say it's not a frown but the look of guilt and possible irresponsible behaviour that comes with spending hundreds of dollars on toys and then doing it all again before that one even arrives! We all know that feeling But yeah $440 for an unopened DA-33 is a decent deal, you should be pleased with that @hotfan. I bought one today for $510 (inc shipping).
Heads up for UK based Dianuts, Kapow toys is doing the first series of powered suits (bar the blue B type) for a tenner each!
Just noticed AmiAmi added preorder for the Diaclone World Guide NEXT - AmiAmi [Character & Hobby Shop] "Max quantity three per household"! Thanks to the original poster who flagged that this was coming out.
