Only four of them have been revealed so far: Wukong Impulse Gundam Sergeant Verde Buster Gundam Benjamin V2 Gundam Nobunaga Gundam Epyon
Yeah, forgot that one existed. Not sure why I haven't gotten it, yet. [edit] Ah, Impulse is it? Barely looks like it. All of Impulse's distinct characteristics (of which it has very few, honestly) are all covered up.
Yeah, Impulse was too hard. It's already a plain design, without anything to really accentuate it gets lost. Though I do like the look of the SDSS. Not as much as the fucking pirates, but then you can't top perfection. They'll look great with the Crossbone.
Oh yeah, SD usually isn't my thing but my god, V2 Pirate and Supercop Verde Buster look absolutely amazeballs and I want them.
Flippant Focus strikes back!! Or should I say..it happened in a Flash. After seeing the new trailer for Hathaway's Flash and unveiling of Xi this week, I kicked open the Penelope again for the weekend. Trying to do this as seamless as I can, and between watching cement dry and sanding it, I figured a few areas to add some more color. It's not going to be overly ambitious seeing how much of the kit is Fixed Flight drapery, just some more blue and gray to fill in the stark white surface of the Odysseus that will be visible at all times. Only problem is Bandai's color theory. The pale, dark cobalt color and their painting guide just doesn't translate well when you are using domestic paints. My first swatch didn't even come close but I think I have something now. Starting with Cobalt, I added some of the violet-blue gray mix I made for F90 (...sigh... soon....), and the magic modifier is Red. Whipped up enough in the paint pan for just the few areas I want to cover, applied a primer coat, and gave the parts a light first coat. This is just a first coat. I made one minor improvement to the pan mix before shutting down tonight by adding more of the F90 mix, and will give these a second coat tomorrow. I put a piece of tape over the pan mix with a few extra drops of thinner to keep it viable overnight. After this, the bulk of what I want to paint is undercoat details and panel gaps. I know it doesn't look like much but I have more subassemblies built as of now, pictures to come next chance.
I have a feeling articulated hands are gonna end up as some P-Bandai release with the beam javelin, hyper bazooka, and whatever other accessories they could throw in.
Pretty sure they can't do multi-gate parts with coated elements. The detail layering here is probably why they skimped on the articulated hands this time around. They could've had you build the articulated fingers, but that many small layered parts would've probably made them quite fragile.
I bet the hair partsforms. I would go “ugh, you shouldn’t have to glue”, but I glued my Zaku’s forearm joints and have lost parts from every Gundam product I have ever owned.
That's a given, but there is another question of part swapping for the conversion from Virtue to Nadleeh: the power cable/band on the top of the head changes color. No matter, the fact that they are committing to the transformation is a major step. Looking at the prototype, and back at the Dynames and Kyrios using the same parts for its arms, legs, and most of the midsection is a good indication that Nadleeh will be using those parts as well. However I don't think it implies an Exia 2.0 any time soon.
Ugh, it could be the pose or the angle or something, but Nadleeh doesn't quite look as good as i would have hoped. Maybe I was just expecting more than a design with an actual working armor purge system was capable of? Ech, I dunno, the proportions just don't look that good to me, so this will most likely stay as Virtue forever.
The last time I did a PG Zaku I was like...15 and I lost bunch of parts. Now I'm much older this is going to go much better. Didn't notice the etching on the MG until now so I did something about it!
Adding more of my F90 (Violet-Cobalt-Gray) mix to the pan really fixed the color I made last night. Everything's gotten a second coat and I applied more of it to other areas of the kit. I fixed my yellow paint too so I can repaint those vent plates on the front skirts, and finding more areas to use it on the tail section.
I think the Nadleeh looks fine because I know the inner frame is well-proportioned, so while the arms kinda look wonky to me I know how they'll actually bend. (the forearms look too long, like the elbow is too high, but I know the real elbow is inside the end of that "box") Plus the Nadleeh is such a lithe and plain kit it doesn't really "come alive" in static, non-posed shots like that. My question is now... do I buy two? Or just alternate displaying them? I don't really buy duplicates of kits to show up different "modes" but Virtue and Nadleeh are so different... Also no way are we not getting a MG Exia from this frame. It was so obviously designed for Exia first and everyone else second. I think the reason the Dynames and Kyrios lack full frame in the shoulders is specifically to allow for the unique build of Exia's power strips.
RG Astray is my first foray into Seed kits and I love it. That being said if you can find and afford it...absolutely get the HiRM Red Frame Astray. Old pics but this thing is such a beastly kit.
Not entirely sure what you were expecting. That certainly looks like the Nadleeh to me. The 00 Gundams have always had slightly atypical anatomy (as far as Gundam is concerned), with some fairly wide hips especially. Nadleeh's design exacerbates this by being so stripped down, with the lack of skirt/waist armour and small shoulders not bridging the proportional gaps as the other Gundams do.
