It was actually easy since it looks like they’re just repainting the 2019 X-Force mold but giving it a new head and belt(the gloves and boots look a little different but that could just be the render making it harder to see the softer/subtler details). Wouldn’t be surprised if we get it repainted as the Astonishing X-men version eventually, especially due to the new head sculpt with the shorter mask ears.
On the HOX/POX wave discussion...: I’ve never really been that fond of Gambit and never picked up the Caliban wave version, but I find myself really hoping that they make a version of his Excalibur costume. See attached photos.
gads I saw this in person today and had to give it over to an employee, who didn't realize at first what was done and even when I pointed it out said it was the store's fault
I actually know where that is - used to be a TRU (RIP) and Hastings (RIP) nearby as well, as I recall.
Oh man that is awesome. I was cracking up so much my dog came in to see what all the commotion was about. That's the best one I've ever seen. Warpath's smile is haunting.
I love the man face on the "alt Storm head". I think the most hilarious thing here is that whoever returned it didn't keep the main Storm figure and two of her hands. Just Thunderbird and some of Storm's extra parts. Seems like a very weird decision. Edit: Oh, just realized that the body for Storm is all wrong too after a closer look.
I'd be down for that outfit and all the contemporary versions of the classic X-men. I really want a Storm and Beast.
Okay, you guys know how TFW is the defacto message board for Transformers? Whats the equivalent for marvel/comic toys?
I personally like to frequent Marvelousnews.com Don't know if you'd call it definitive, but it's a great place for news.
I've pretty much got all of the versions of Storm I absolutely needed at this point. I mean, I guess if they did a later Outback version with the longer hair and weird leather jacket thing or Silver Jim Lee version, maybe. Other than that, I'm good.
I second the marvelousnews.com mention. A good source for news and people on the boards there are also pretty chill.
Got Thunderstrike and Kang today. I get the feeling someone at Hasbro LOVES the 90’s designs because there’s a lot of Legends this year based on those designs, some I’d forgotten about until I saw the figures. Thunderstrike is 1 of them. Not complaining, it’s cool to see someone remembered those designs and liked them enough to push out in the Legends lines. Plus I liked the armored Daredevil design and the figure turned out good for the most part. Thunderstrike seems to be an all new mold aside from the arms(reused from 80th Thor). There’s just a diaphragm ball joint, no waist joint. The jacket tends to hinder some diaphragm articulation. The boots are actually sculpted separately from the top of the lower legs. The boots and feet are given a gloss finish I think to resemble leather. Hips are limited to 1 detent out so about 45 degrees. YMMV since this is a bigger figure but I was surprised by this given the wider range of movement from most Legends released this year. Kang seems to be almost all new tooling(except maybe the underlying torso). Looks better to me than the Toy Biz one. The tunic is made of a dense PVC that’s somewhat flexible. The shoulder joints have detents in all directions. So it’s easier to move the arms if you pivot the shoulders outwards 1st. Otherwise the tunic tends to get folded inwards or outwards against the arms(you’ll also feel resistance). Hopefully this doesn’t crease/tear/deteriorate over time. There’s a waist ball joint instead of diaphragm articulation(like the recent Dr Dooms) and the tunic belt helps in hiding the joint. Leg articulation is pretty good, the ends of the tunic and top of the thigh armor don’t get in the way as much as I thought. Overall the upper body has a cleaner sculpt due to using the PVC overlay. YMMV on if it’s a better figure for it. It’s kind of a compromise from either using a hard PVC that blocks inward arm movement altogether or cutting articulation into the tunic which IMO, could’ve been pretty ugly.
I picked Kang up recently myself and thought his design was fairly unique compared to what we normally get in Marvel Legends as far as his articulation is concerned. Not sure if I'd want to see more figures like this but I definitely feel it works well with Kang's design.
So I guess the new Black Cat is NOT 100% the same as the previous one. According to a review on YouTube she does have a disk hinge for the neck and then her legs can spread out side to side which they could not on the older version.
