Thank god I'm not a big fan of Ferrari as a company! That being said Dino looks kinda "eh" for me. Didn't care much for him in the movie and the toy doesn't strike me as interesting.

To be fair they are kind of jerks. Scuderia Ferrari has been embroiled in many controversies in the race world and are one of the masterminds in effectively ruining the sport of F1 as it is now.

The only bad thoughts I have about this are the wings seem a big off and the car mode just seem like too boxy or looks too sleek.

Despite the unfortunate circumstances with Ferrari, I think the way he's designed in that doesn't use much of his existing vehicle kibble means not getting the alt-mode right won't negatively impact the final robot form's look at all. I wonder if Hasbro had that in mind while he was being designed these last 2 years.

If @erwinsims still worked on Studio Series I could totally see him working his magic to reshell Dino with a proper 458 model :D

I so would! But now I am MPM scale and we will get a OS Firage to go with that set.
That said, It looks close enough, would be easy enough to make it look like a 458

Pretty much this. Only 2 new Studio Series reveals (one being a retool practically EVERYONE saw coming), and an Ectotron rerelease for the 2021 Ghostbusters movie (with a new head) is hardly worth one of these streams. If they also showed off either some new ‘86 Movie SS figures, or showed off Kingdom waves 2-3, and possibly even a teaser of the Ark Titan-Class figure, then it would’ve been worth the hype. But those 3 figures on their own, nowhere near that.

Yeah, I really don't get people who think the inaccurate car mode is why he has such a massive backpack. The SS wreckers, Crowbar, etc, suffer from the same issue - which is that the movie designs (mostly) stopped giving a shit about cohesion between robot and alt-modes after ROTF, and just started cheating with the transformations to an extent that would make Beast Wars Dinobot blush.

There is a good reason we stopped seeing intricate, extended transformation scenes like this one after the first two movies:

While the aesthetics of Bayformers were controversial from the get-go, there was at least a significant effort to make the robots look like they actually transformed into their alt modes. Which is also why the best toys of said characters have tended to incorporate aspects of the on-screen transformations. (EX: all the Bayformers Ratchet toys that do the same 180 degree rotation at the torsos.)

But then DOTM camre around, and they almost completely tossed that approach. At least some of the time, it was for the sake of saving money (see Long Haul's robot mode being re-used as a generic con that scans a garbage truck mode in the DOTM Chicago invasion scene, and then being slightly modified and re-used again as that dude who turns into a tow-truck in The Last Knight)... but they also did this shit with core cast members, like Megatron.

It's frankly a goddammed miracle that the SS toy of the DOTM Megatron design manages to pull off not only good looking robot and alt-modes, but also scale in BOTH modes with a lot of the other SS toys. Did it have to make compromises? Yeah, but... there was no other way, because the onscreen design made no effort to help the toy designers. And it's a dame shame, because despite how embarrassing Megatron's portrayal was in that movie, I actually like the Mad Max look he's got going on. And I'm thankful Studio Series finally provided a quality toy of the design, despite the massive hurdles they had to overcome.

Yikes, that SS Movie Dino is really not one of the most flattering releases in this line. More miss than hit.

    thanks but no thanks

Its not as bad as it sounds. I bought this custom a while back. The paint was applied amateur but it was under $20 so I was very happy to add him to my collection. I have an extra Berserker to attempt my own shot at it but im just so lazy. 20201114_095216_Film4.jpg

At first when I look at the car mode, it doesn't look good. But looking at the in hand pictures from Fan First...

As a huge Studio Series fan, the backpack syndrome on a lot of the Deluxe cars is unfortunate, but really runs the gamut in terms of egregiousness. Sometimes it folds up nice and flat like on Bumblebee and Leadfoot. And sometimes some of the worst looking ones in pictures aren't bad at all in hand, like Roadbuster.

Jury is still out on Dino, and his car mode is definitely a little plain (not really Hasbro's fault), but I'll reserve judgment on his backpack until I have him in hand. It's a wonder we're getting him at all.

Can we please stop using the word “syndrome” to describe things that we don’t like about toys?

why so you can do your standard screaming into the forums about how hasbro isn’t making them into scale with your makeshift MP collection?

Back in 2011, I always wanted a Deluxe Dino. Everyone kept saying be patient. Well, this patients took nearly 10 years.

Very glad to see Dino made the SS cut, gives me hope for our remaining OT Bayverse Bots. Hoping Skids and Mudflap get relegated to a Deluxe/Voyager 2-Pack like the Arcee triplets. Jolt and Que will probably be standard Deluxe Class figures and hopefully neither will be exclusive.

*sigh* Here we go again. (Seriously, you must enjoy this otherwise you'd have blocked me by now.) Let me clarify... They're not jerks in this instance. Mattel has the rights to produce toys of their products and Hasbro doesn't. That doesn't make Ferrari a bunch of jerks in this instance. I was speaking only on this specific matter, not their other dealings and how they handle their business.

I appreciate the effort but for some reason I'm not feeling SS Dino and am fine with the Movie Advanced one. That being said I totally admit that I'll impulse buy this if I see it on the pegs/in stock online. XD
