    Already answered

The ironic thing is that they actually did with the Titans Return Dead End mold. That at least looks like a car designed in modern day and not this Dino which looks more like a 1990s Lamborghini Diablo (and thus, ironically, a rather good alt. mode for Sideswipe).

That's not how it works though. The negotiations for which cars they can use in the movies are likely separate for the negotiations for which toys can be licensed for toys. Especially for a live-action film. Because every car they use is, effectively, a real car that somebody owns the rights too.

Why do you think all of the animated stuff has started using generic looking (but original) vehicle designs?

Ehh, SS Dino is pretty underwhelming, tbh. Yikes to that messy bot mode...and while I get that HasTak couldn't get the IP to use an actual Ferrari car, oh boy does the alt mode car look bad as well. Plus the lack of paint. An easy pass.

I mean, almost every SS figure who turns into a car has a backpack. I don't see what you mean by the robot mode colours, it's gunmetal, like most movie characters. And the weapons are one of those instances where the blades on his arms, which go a long way to identifying the character, magically change into over-complicated hook things that latch on to Hatchet for that one scene. I'd rather he have the blades, they're far more distinct and there's no Hatchet for him to hook on to anyway.

    ...

Why did Dino hook onto him in the film? It didn't slow Hatchet down on anything, he just ended up being shot to death by Bee and Sideswipe. Dino's big stunt did nothing.

Both reveals are a purchase for me. I plan on head swapping Cybertronian Bee with Jeep Bee. Dino looks alright too. Just enough to scratch that (9 year long) itch.

I admittedly chuckled a bit when I saw that "Ferrari" mode...sometimes they get unlicensed vehicle modes pretty spot on (a lot of the G1 bots do this well, not to mention the movieverse Optimus Primes), but this isn't even close. It's fine to change some details, but they failed to capture the overall shape here, which gives him an entirely different look and vibe.

Although the more I look at it, the more I actually like it. It's a lot more square and boxy than the car should be, which makes it look like an '80s Ferrari. I get why people who desire screen-accuracy would be upset, but I could easily pretend this is Dino from the BB-era or something. I think they really nailed the robot sculpt, so I see myself picking this guy up.

I'm a bit disappointed in Cybertronian Bee. I wish battle masks were an accessory, and not part of the actual figure. And did Bumblebee even use his mask during that scene? (He very well could have, but I can't picture it). If the face is swappable with Beetle Bee (which I never display), I might pick this guy up. But if not, I think he'll be a pass.

Maybe it's just the image lighting but that looks more brown than gunmetal to me. I'm getting serious PRID Knock Out vibes from this with how the robot parts really don't look that good against the red and would have been much better served with a brighter gray.

Fair enough about the blades, but likewise I would have changed it to be the opening sequence for his box backdrop where the weapons he has were more prominently on display.

And maybe the kibble problem, maybe that's just the result of trying to get an accurate robot mode out of a car that is significantly different from the actual CGI model. That doesn't change the fact it's still pretty bad and unless I'm missing something, there is clearly a hinge on the waist implying there is not a waist swivel, which itself would be neutered by the massive backpack hitting the back of the hips.

Maybe he just wanted to surf on the highway? While causing Hatchet pain, because the movie Autobots are a bunch of sociopaths.

It looks gunmetal in the pics to me.

It probably doesn't have a waist swivel but are waists really a standard on movie bots? I thought that was more a WFC thing since the designs are much simpler?

Yup. I will probably get off-road Bee because I like the gun and the head, but that’s it.

Yeah, if you want standardized articulation then you’re in the wrong line, hombre. These designs do not lend themselves to articulation, lol. Dino is great.

If it's the same wave as Starscream, EB Games has him listed as June next year.

OK, I'll be counting down the days with excitement. Hasbro has given their word, no turning back.

I honestly don't know why they cast cars in the movies they couldn't make toys of let alone name said transformer after the son of the company founder and one of it's most popular cars. It really spoils the line up of toys when you've got all these real street cars and then some Pontiac Fiero, pig in makeup trying to be passed off as a Ferrari 458. I mean it's not like it matters the movie is long gone but it's such a weird series decisions all to build a character they can't even replicate in toy form

I mean I kinda know why. When Mattel/Hotwheels had this problem too when the lost the exclusive rights to Ferrari a few years back but rather then make Fake-rarrie's they just stopped making Ferrari HW cars.

I guess a third party will fill the void. I dont think even Ferrari's legal eagles can stop unlicensed toys if toy companies cant.
