Okay, show of hands, who else is pissed they reverted Spinister to his original 80s characterization? All I can say is he'd better get Brain Module damage at some point, hueing closer to his insane, goofball 05 IDW self.

Nah, if I wanted 05 IDW Spinister I'd read 05 IDW Spinister.

I simply find brooding, mysterious Spinny to be lamest Spinny. Also, just because I want him to be closer to his 05 self doesn't mean he has to be an exact copy. I'd emphasize his insanity more than his stupidity. Maybe throw him in a loony bin.

*Fell asleep during IDW '2019's opening arc*

Whu wha? Did we win the war this time? ...Wait, it hasn't started yet!??!?... oh.. F*** you 2020!!!!

    ^Fixed, but seriously...

This, I think what made the Scavengers better characters than their previous/later incarnations was how insanely out of character from the "norm" they were and that made it entertaining. The problem with the new IDW Verse is it's still so... BORING and brooding.

In fact, considering all the Decep characters with mental instabilities, I'm surprised there's never been a story in which Megatron visits an asylum, seeking recruits.

De Scavies are mei bois. They were my favourite part of MTMTE. Actually enjoyed them MORE than Rodimus crew. They were like a Decepticon flavoured version of Red Vs Blue. I'd have loved a spin off title. Sadly, I can't quite imagine them existing in this woke, undercooked continuity IDW's put out to replace it's far better predecessor. There maybe more female characters, but, almost nobody's likeable/interesting enough for me to want to stick around. What really irritates me about these new books is they've double downed on the pandering easter eggs. Excessive fanservice doesn't compensate for mediocre storytelling. I don't give a damn if you included somebody as obscure as Subsea. You've done Cliff, Megs, Shock, Magnus, Spinny, etc all wrong. Also, this might sound minor, but, I hate how unattractive Arcee looks in this. I miss the curvaceous, ruby lipped bombshell she used to be. Can't help it. I'm a pervert, you see. :p

That's what I'm talking about! The Post War Era of the first IDWVerse got to do things differently and the results were MTMTE was the most entertaining Transformers series since Beast Wars for me. When Roberts wrote in the Scavengers ("it's pronounces SCAVENGERS!!!!") it was so out of the ordinary and hilarious.

Say what you will about Deadpool's fourth wall breaks, but THIS is the best moment in Transformers comic history.

I still laugh at the editor's note from the Hasbroverse crossover issue that came out so late they said "F*** it, go full Ennis."

Exactly. Every Krok Krew centric story brought comedy gold. Another show it reminded me of was Red Dwarf. Must've been all the insults.

    Colm Meaney as Krok. 20201113_102813.jpg

    Matt Frewer as Fulcrum. 20201113_102939.jpg

Thoms F Wilson as Spinister. 20201113_102857.jpg

    Charlie Adler as Crankcase. 20201113_102917.jpg

    John Kassir as Misfire. 20201113_102832.jpg

I'd have included Flywheels, but, since he's killed off so early on it really doesn't matter. I usually hear Steve Blum doing one of those generic, Deceptigrunt voices he did in FOC.

Will this be on digital? I'm hesitant to buy hard covers after I filled a box in the garage with them and they're heavy:redface2:

Just got volume 3... amazing that we're only three books in and they already don't match anymore. The IDW logo and Transformers logo on the spine are at different heights than the first 2, and this third book has a matte finish like the IDW1 books vs the glossy finish of volume 1 and 2. Great job guys...

    Ebay:
Just got volume 3 via Amazon, but I'll have to wait until I get home and put it on my bookshelf to compare it with the other two volumes. I can't help but wish that these books just collected the main series, with mini-series in their own volume, because that first volume of 12 issues is easily my favorite. But I guess they're starting with the comprehensive collection from the beginning this time rather than giving each individual series and mini-series it's own trade paperback collection.

Edit: there is a very slight difference between volume 3 and volumes 1 and 2, though it's not as different as NT Primes copy. It does seem as though the quality control was a bit sloppy on this one.
