Starscream has many portrayals being the fan favorite character and one of the most used in the franchise. Most of his appearances stay the same but sometimes there are different traits sprinkled in like being a noble warrior or even a genuine loyal soldier to his leader.

My question is how do you want Starscream to be handled ideally? Do you want him to be a noble warrior, a loyal subordinate, an incompetent fool, etc.

Myself I really like what his original bio says about him, he is a legitimate threat but he overestimates himself leading to him biting more than he can chew. One layer that I want to add to this is he also boast about his skills too much, thus when he fails it is a bigger deal because he couldn't live up to his own words and embarrases himself and to others.

I'd like to see an authentic original Profile depiction.

Highly intelligent, aristocratic, absurdly cruel, highly competent, and tough to fight due to his speed, skill, and weaponry. Who comes out of the heavens screaming out of the sky unleashing Macross missile spam that devastates areas.

My first taste of Starscream was, by far, one of the best. Legitimately threatening and competent compared to other run-of-the-mill Decepticons, tough to fight, yet at the same time theatrical and refined to an extent - exactly my type of a bad guy. Boasting his skills and rocking a badass design and a badass sword (uncooperative as it is). Bitter and salty he might be, even more so towards Megatron in particular than some other Starscreams are, it's a fitting taste.

He was really that impressive in RID2015? I've only watched the first season of that show, that's an interesting turn around for PRID Starscream who was a bit disappointing at the end of Beast Hunters. I might have to check the episodes he's in.

It was the first time I saw a Starscream and out-of-context he's rather impressive after numerous not-so-intimidating bad guys (and Soundwave, but the guy only had a single episode at that point). The bad guys that Starscream, by the way, has no problem subjugating. He's basically back to Season 1 threat of Prime Starscream with Megatron not there to oppress him, but also a bit more intimidating with a new body and, in hindsight, demonstrating more competency as Soundwave's not there to manage things for him, yet his plan comes very close to completion even then.
There's that one flashback moment. Out of context it's kinda hilarious with how Starscream blatantly lies about his smarts and bravery and shows some depth to Starscream who looks tough but, eeeh, not the bigger fish in the sea even if he's the biggest in the show at that point. Expands the world, so to speak. In context that's consistent with Starscream in late Prime and sort of reconciles the "commanding" Starscream with "cowardly" Starscream.

Basically his prime/rid 15 version but with a mix of animated

Basically starscream betraying megatron behind his back and when his plan fails he becomes a pathetic little snake but a bit more threatening

He wasn't a coward. He pretended to be loyal to Megatron, and tried to overthrow him when the time came. He even tried to defeat Primus!

    ^ This. Pretty much this.

Again, Starscream is quite possibly the only character that no matter the different routes they've taken, they have all worked because they have managed to keep the overall essence of the character intact. Other characters basically feel out of character when a different route is attempted (looking at you, Megatron and Optimus), but that is the beauty of Starscream. He is so flexible as a character that no matter what route you take, he will always feel like Starscream.

I would say either G1 or Prime Starscream but honestly at this point, he's just one of those heavily overused characters and I would like to see someone new for a change. He's literally one of the few characters that has been in literally every series so it would be nice to rotate him out for a breath of fresh air. I think we can go one series without having Starscream.

My character impressions began with the toys and my own imagination, so they are grounded in the original toy's tech specs. In Starscream's case, that means the bio text from his own tech spec, but the stats from Skywarp's, given that the Seeker's stats were originally incorrectly assigned. I think of Starscream as intelligent, strong, skilled, cruel, vain, ruthless, sneaky, and brave (the opposite of which is usually depicted in the cartoons). I think his biggest weakness (and the reason for his lack of ultimate success) is that he overestimates himself. Incidentally, I hate the screechy voice he's typically given. In my mind, he's a confident, smooth talker.

My exposure to Starscream in other media is primarily limited to the original cartoon, Animated, and Prime. None of them really capture my idea of the character. He's just a whiny, cowardly, backstabbing opportunist in the original show, and in Prime he's likewise a coward but does seem to be more competent and far more intelligent. Animated probably depicts him more closely to his original bio, though he seems a little crazy.

My ideal Starscream would be a legitimate rival to Megatron in almost every aspect, but one that's just not quite able to usurp him.

Yeah this depiction would be my ideal Starscream, as for his voice he has a relatively cool sounding voice in the Japanese versions.

His Japanese voice fits so perfectly yet sounds so different from the screechy voice we've come to know. I like it. He sounds so arrogant and vain.
