Yeah, pretty obvious huh? But like this starscream has a pretty bad design. It's ugly, it's too grayish, and he spits a whole damn lot. it's just..ugh!

Now Personality-wise, aside from the voice(Charlie alder is amazing), the aircraft transformation, and being a coward. this Starscream is pretty flat. Like, where the hell is Starscream who's a traitor, and tries to overthrow megatron? We only get a hint of that in the first film, where they make it ambiguous he was one of the F-22's shooting at megatron. In Revenge of the fallen, he doesn't do anything that resembles's starscream, and even in Dotm, unless you can't the sarcastic ass-kissing to Megatron.

He also goes out like a wimp. and it's embarrassing. The comics and video games do a better job showcasing his traitorous nature. Just goes to show that the writing for these movies are ass.

Do i have anything positive to say about Scream though? Yes. He was badass in the first film, despite his limited screentime, he was shown to be a legitimate threat, to the point Ironhide shit his metaphorical pants, and blew up Bee's leg. Let me know what you guys think

    Yup, pretty much.

As you accurately point out the comics and games at least made more of an effort to have him behave as Starscream, and as a result I find those ones to be a lot more memorable from those games than any of the actual films.

I give the movies a hard time (and rightfully so) but we got some decent comics out of them, so there's that.

Imo he was one of the very few good things from the movies, but like a lot of the decepticons in the bay movies he was really underused. He had a great voice actor and an amazing design imo, but they barely did anything with him, and he died in a pathetic way at least the games did something with him, but overall I say that he’s better than the armada/energon starscream which is a very low bar to cross ( don’t @ me plz)

He was alright. I liked him personally but he really wasn’t anything too special. Would have liked to have seen him do more in the films.

However, stuff like the IDW run, the games, and the novels like Ghosts of Yesterday made me really like him a lot more. I tend to like the extended media representations of the characters more than the film ones, as it actually focuses on the important shit. Cuts out that pot brownie stuff.

IDW's "The Reign of Starscream" made me realize I wouldn't have had a problem with the designs if the writing and characters were good.

I know it’s probably not financially feasible, but I would honestly love a comic continuation of the Bay films since they’re probably not going to make another movie.

Absolutely agreed! The Reign of Starscream is my favorite piece of Bayverse fiction (and one of my favorite pieces of TF fiction in general).

What's are the two things Starscream is most known for?
    1. He's a treacherous shithead
    2. He's the leader of the Seekers

He's not evenly slightly treacherous and the Seekers don't exist
    Yeah, bet

To praise the DS game some more, that one was pretty much all about Starscream and him desperately clinging on to staying in charge. And then when Megatron is revived and the Decepticons turn against them he kills 2 of them, mortally wounds another and then fights Megatron 1 on 1.
Like he's not around that much in the game but when he is he carries all the presence he needs

Personally, I never felt there was ever a worst Starscream. Sure, some were mishandled (looking at you, Prime Wars), but they all managed to keep the essence of the character intact.

The only problem with this Starscream is his underuse (especially in the first flick), but other than that, he was genuinely the best part in the first three flicks. The humor in the Bay flicks was very looooooow-brow, but honestly, the humor of Starscream always worked for me. Him basically getting beaten and kicked around is just as much fun as it was in the G1 cartoon.

That being said, although he never openly defied Megatron, there is a bit of nuance with him in his sycophantic behavior and constant hand-rubbing. Of course, this is just me, but whenever he basically rubbed his hands and bowed to Megatron, I always got a sort of Peter Lorre vibe out of him (which really made me think that he was just planning for the long term). Especially when he kinda 'comforts' Megatron about looking so wounded and weak, but in the way he is moving and the delivery of the performance, it did make me think that he was just pretending to be sympathetic and wanted to get into Megatron's skin.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but honestly, Starscream for me was the most expressive and fun character of the first three Bay flicks. Charlie Adler's quirky acting and the way the animators added so much personality to his movements really made me enjoy Starscream despite his limited time.

The video games, however... they really managed to use Starscream more and they used him really well. I just wish he hadn't been pitch shifted in the ROTF game, but he still was pretty well written and had some really good dialogue.

The movies are like Star Wars, the best aspects about it are the expanded lore rather than the core films.

Yeah, I can't disagree with this.
    Points off for:
    • Chicken legs
    • Colouration
    • Overall ugliness
    • Unhygienic
    • Pretty useless
    • Stupid
    • Is far from a Starscream, save for Armada Screamer.

He is far from the worst, although I can’t really think of a bad Starscream aside from maybe Prime Wars or Energon.

Also, BIG disagree on the design. It definitely isn’t for everyone but I absolutely love it. Character wise there sadly isn’t much to him but that is a symptom of the films as a whole rather than just Starscream. Charlie Adler’s voice acting was perfect though, I think his performance helps make up for any lack of character.

Bay Starscream is fantastic in the video games and comics though. Reign of Starscream is one of my favorite TF comics out there and really helped me like the character even more.

Starscream's design is great. In the first movie he was badass. I bet he'd be a lot better recieved if he wasn't touting a name with as much pedigree as "Starscream." Call him something like Sky Shadow, keep the same deep distorted voice from TF1, drop the sniveling incompetence and grovelling, and just have him be a cool, commanding enforcer for Megatron.

Maybe a lot of complaints about the film's portrayal of characters might have been avoided if they'd simply not used the names of the core cast. Obviously they had to but something perhaps like Rescue Bots where the focus group doesn't actually rely on OP and Bumbles, or the bad guys being Megatron and Screamer.

I liked him in Transformers: The Game, but he was terrible in the movies. Worse than Energon/Superlink Starscream.

For as bad justice ROTF and DOTM did him I think the one thing they nailed on him was the "sometimes cowards survive" quote, felt like a straight up classic Starscream quote.

Reign of Starscream comic is definitely movie Scream at his peak, every now and then I still like to read that one despite being a Bay comic.

This is how I always saw him. He's constantly being sarcastic and snide to Megatron and getting away with what he can. And at the end of rotf, even manages to call him a coward to his face and gets away with it. He's not a bad starscream, he's just very underused and never got to really flex his wings. Metaphorically.

Oh, yeah. The underuse really did him a disservice, really. In fact, I think out of all the Bayformers characters, Screamer has a lot more subtlety and small touches in his moves and performance despite his underuse, and I guess that is why I enjoyed him so much when he was on-screen. Plus, at least he felt like his own character, whereas all the other Decepticons were almost like snarling generic beasts.
