Mine is not in front of me right now, but typically with MPs if you want to swap an entire leg you would take the screws out of the waist, separate the waist and then swap the leg. Be careful and watch out for springs inside if there are ratchets on those joints. Taking pictures also helps to remember how things go back together.
I disassembled the leg when I tightened the knee joints, and it was very straightforward. The thigh’s just held together by screws and comes apart simply and easily. Probably the least complicated part of the toy. Also, this might be an odd question, but would you be willing to sell one of the tiger heads from your other copies? Or are you planning on reselling them once you’ve assembled your perfect copy? I destroyed the eye mechanism of mine trying to tighten it, and I wish I never tried. It looks fine when the head is closed but changing the eyes is a pain because I need tools to remove them, so every transformation I risk damaging it more.
I have to learn to avoid the collector's mentality ("got to collect them all") with this line. The last two have been disappointments and leave me with an empty feeling and/or the feeling that I was "taken." I'm not happy that this is the only real opportunity to get high-end in-"scale" figures of the Beast Wars figures. As a collector, it's unfortunate and bizarre that I'm looking to Generations figures to replace Masterpieces.
I started a conversation yesterday morning. Requesting a white disk. Since my copy from Amazon Japan is missing one. I have yet to receive a response. My hope is that fortune favors both of us.
Godspeed. I guess PMing would make the most sense. Maybe his Tigatrons turned on him when they found out he considered them imperfect.
I clicked on 'QUICK REPLY', plus I'm sure to incur the wrath of some here, so I'll try to be very broad in my explanation. In fact, I might even just briefly talk about alt-mode for catharsis. The alt-mode is unpleasant-looking, as a result of relying on Mainframe's poor 3D model. Plus the rear legs are just...sad, visually. In tiger mode, he doesn't seem to have much utile articulation. When I did try to place the cat in anything other than a static pose, panels caved in, became detached, etc. I'm stopping there because I'm well aware no one is going to read this and it's not like I'm changing anyone's opinion. Thanks for asking.
I read what you posted and I agree with you about these shortcomings on Tigatron. One of the things I was really looking forward to was his tiger mode and I was disappointed that he couldn’t really be posed much at all in that mode. Not just the legs, but the neck also leaves a lot to be desired. Robot mode is much better and I do really like his color scheme. While I’m not super thrilled with Tigatron, I am glad to have him in my collection and I don’t feel like his shortcomings will deter me from getting any future Beast Wars MPs.
You haven't made an enemy of me! I totally agree the alt-mode is quite disappointing in terms of articulation. It's very limited and the back end in a mess of over engineered (even if i do enjoy the actually transformation) robot parts that are only barely suggestive of rear tiger legs. I'd also have liked a more expressive head/face a la Cheetor, He may do a better job of hiding the robot kibble than Cheetor but he's less fun and expressive as a result. Thankfully his robot mode, a few kibble and joint tolerance issues aside, is pretty fantastic. He still sits below Primal, Megatron and Cheetor in my hierarchy of BWMPs, on a par with Dinobot and above Blackarachnia (no I don't have Lio Convoy).
I mean, those are pretty fair critiques. I think most people who have him have probably felt at least some frustration in terms of articulation. I think he looks EXCELLENT in Beast Mode, but not being able to do much with him takes away so much of the personality that he ends up just looking excellent in a single pose. Which is such a shame. I still enjoy the beast mode, but that neck and back leg articulation is unquestionably problmeatic.
Indeed, I have mine in Beast Mode right now and he looks great, certainly one of the tidiest beast modes of the lot. However he's barely a step up from a statue in terms of articulation and expression. It's not that he has none, the front legs are great and the tail is almost stupidly articulated. But the limited back legs and head renfer the rest moot. On top of all that I really wish he didn't come with additional head sculpts for beast mode. I totally reckon they could have done that and would have taken just one of those over the largely pointless Megatron puzzle head. n.b. I am nitpicking here not trashing the whole figure, which I have a great deal of love and appreciation for.
I'll even go as far as saying that Tigatron's tiger head with it's mouth open looks less like roaring and more like.. dazed and confused. And yeah, that's all said with him currently in tiger mode for me too. I see he looks just fantastic in tiger mode in the one pose that works.
Yup, he looks almost Disney-like in his vacuous slightly 'derpy' expression regardless of how one positions his eyeballs.
I mean, I read your post, and I think this is a fair assessment. While the Tiger mode is exceptionally accurate to the CG model, if you don’t like that CG model you’re not going to like the tiger mode. I’ll also agree that the rear legs are weak but add that they’re weak in spite of the over complicated transformation. They look only marginally better than Cheetor’s rear legs IMO, despite being fives times more complex. While I haven’t personally found the tiger mode comes untabbed from posing, as I actually find the tabs solid enough that getting the tiger apart is mildly stressful, the forelegs are tight enough that I can see them “winning out” against the tabs when posing, especially the way they all feed back into the panels attached to the legs themselves. Mine’s legs just happen to be a bit looser than the tabs’ strength, but still not as smooth to pose as I’d like. Your criticisms are fair and you’re absolutely entitled to your opinion. Just because the majority like this toy doesn’t mean you have to.
The aforementioned board member contacted me. Unfortunately a deal could not be struck. He or she is not willing to sell parts, just the extra figures. Oh well c'est la vie!
If anyone is interested I posted a video review of this guy! Any feedback is welcome as I am still getting started with this stuff. I still love this figure. I personally don't really have too many issues with this one, such a solid release and definitely one of the best MP Beast Wars figures.
