You know, between (what I feel was) the over-hyped reveal of SS Starscream and the (very disappointing to me) most recent Galactic Odyssey set, I'm, leaning this direction too.
Wouldn't surprise me if it was a decent idea but executed in a manner that doesn't excite me at all. Like a Ghost Starscream from the Earthrise mold. Except it's a translucent green "slime" figure with Ghostbuster emblems on the wings. Or even a nice clear figure but with green "slime" painted all over it.
I'm just expecting to be very underwhelmed.

But honestly that's ok. Nothing wrong with a little less to buy, and I'm sure whatever it is, there will be some who like it.  

 

So the comic takes place after the 86 movie... but Optimus Prime isn't one of the ghosts?  

 

No, the comic is an alt universe where the decepticons never chased the autobots off cybertron becuase they were all dead and the autobots never crashed on earth. The movie has nothing to do with the comic

It's not confusing at all if you actually read it. It starts like the cartoon more or less, millions of years of war, Autobots leave cybertron on the ark etc. Before the Decepticons can follow in the Nemesis, Cybertron is attacked by Gozer and everyone left on Cybertron is killed. Autobots drift through space on their mission to find energon and all that for a length of time until Ectotron detects a Cybertronian signal coming from a planet called Earth (which shouldn't be possible since as far as they know the Autobots on the Ark are the last of their kind)

It was Siege Chromia, not ER Arcee and if Hasbro has "lost confidence" in transparent plastic we wouldn't have gotten the ER Datsuns that are made of large portions of transparent plastic

It's going to be a humanoid Louis Tully figure that turns into the Vinz Clortho "terror dog" and is actually a backdoor reveal for a new Animorphs imprint as Hasbro tests to see if they can revive any old thing from the 80s and 90s and make people buy it.

It seems obvious when you think about it, really.

 

Hate to really dump the letdown sauce on here, but I'm afraid with Lego's recent "Afterlife" set announcement,
and then the recent shoe drops being Ecto-1 themed, we're probably just looking at a dusty, dirty inkjet'd up repaint of Ectotron as "Afterlife Ectotron".

Slim possibility of a repaint pack-in or something of another figure.

I mean, that's just the way Hasbro's been going these days--don't give a single s**t how saturated we are with certain molds/characters,
just keep lumping on minor change after minor change and repack after repack...

Well, then I’d better expect a repaint/remold of Ectotron this Saturday.

 

I tracked down a ko classics ghost Starscream to hang from the ceiling for my display, so it must be a ghost Starscream 

 

Something glow in the dark would be cool.

That's one of the only things that would get me to buy a second/redecoed Ectotron. I like him, but I don't need two unless they do something like this.

I'd get it; I loved the Animorphs. The main toys made great substitutes for Werewolf: The Apocalypse characters, and I've used the Yeerks as proxies for Stargate Goa'uld for years.  

 

i'm not dreaming of a repaint of ectotron   read right back my dreams are of an mp11 ghost starscream to go with their mp10 gb deco so i can finally complete my mp11 collection ( making it 14 mp11's in all ) , this is why i'm expecting my dreams to be crushed
