I havent felt truly excited since Titans Return. It was G1, but it was the ignored part of G1 finally getting some love....and then it was back to 84-85...I still had hopes we'd have another run at all the overlooked characters from 87-95, the missing Targetmasters, HMjrs and Powermasters...maybe even deep cuts like the Triggerbots/cons. Instead we got Seige, which I'll admit I liked a lot even if it didn't feel as new and exciting...but then we got Earthrise, almost every single character from Seige all over again and it really cooled me off.

At least we are getting the coneheads but after that I dont care if we never get the main 6 seekers again in classic form. Armada? Machine Wars? absolutely! Otherwise I'd rather see Skyquake, Fearswoop, the Predators, Skyscorchers and the Cyberjets take over for a bit as the main jet baddies. Sideswipe, Red Alert, Hound and Mirage just getting repaints as themselves? yawn...Had they been Slapdash or Leadfoot, Ironfist and some Spychangers my wallet would have flown out of my pocket.

I used to be a completist once upon a time. This year will be my lowest spending since the days where my budget was based on my allowance and paper route money.

Burnt out? No. BUT I am disappointed to see a move away from G1 stuff with the Beasts. I wanted to see the rest of the G1 Targetmasters, Powermasters, Headmasters Jr etc getting done. Im thrilled to see the new Voyager Cyclonus & Scourge though. But Ill be spending far less next year on bots by the looks of it....

Now I love my Beast Wars stuff...Im still chipping away at my 90s stuff bringing in a guy here and there.

Yes, I'm tired of this G1 homage for 6 years since thrilling 30, it was good at the start, now is a G1 carbot/optimus/literally who character every week, I hope that we could get interesting figures in the R.E.D line, like Prime Arcee, maybe animated characters too and movie characters

Pretty sure plenty of people are getting sick of seeing G1 shit everywhere
Generations is literally just G1 but again now, while before it was G1 but modern. Yet other series like RID, Unicron Trilogy, Animated or like, new ideas not connected to other series have barely recieved anything. I mean only now are we really getting Beast Wars stuff and even then it still has G1 in there. Even Studio Series has G1 stuff now

It's probably why seeing people ask for more G1 stuff pisses me off, like you don't have enough already.

Problem is not G1 as a whole.

Problem is 84' sunbow cast and 86' movie cast over and over. In never ending loop.

I'm personally "sick" (as you said) of these 84 and 86 stuff, but I was totally happy with Titans return coverage for example, which went to headmasters, monsterbots, jumpstarters, as well as japanse G1 stuff like metalhawk, big powered etc..

There's ton of G1 toys/areas which have not been revisited at all... (but as hasbro keep looping on 84 , it seems even some fans seems to forget that there's more..).

Not yet... BUT... after Kingdom will be the big one, for me. I decided that I would only get characters that were in the very first two episodes of G1 and anything that appealed to me, as well as anything from the first season of Beast Wars. That has made WFC perfectly fine for me.

But if they begin churning out either revamps of G1 characters again with the next trilogy that could see my spending rapidly decline. I am already happy with the Titans Return versions of Rodimus, Kup, Blurr, so on so I didn't get them. Getting more Prowls or Bluestreaks isn't on my radar at all.

Not burned out at all. I'm loving all these figures.

That being said, I can't wait until we get some new figures inspired by RID, Unicron Trilogy, Animated, etc. I just love all Transformers.

No burn out here, I think what we are getting know (WFC) is significantly different enough from what came before and even with the do overs between Siege and Earthrise they still serve their purposes. I've also only been collecting Generations since Combiner Wars and wasn't happy with a lot of the figures to come out in the lines prior to WFC. It has nothing to do with forced gimmicks or anything like that, I love new gimmicks in characters, but a lot of them just didn't feel right. CW Ironhide was a poor Ironhide while Siege/Earthrise actually feels and looks like Ironhide (just as an example). In saying that, a lot of the WFC figures are pretty definitive takes on the G1 designs in mainline (in my opinion of course) so I don't see myself rebuying a lot of these characters in the future and mostly sticking with characters that haven't been done before.

15 years ago this new "Studio Series 86" is exactly what I wanted as a collector! Over the years I've filled in the gaps with nice representations of my favorites - so now I'm set. I won't be replacing anyone except for Grimlock if I see him but I'm set and satiated with main cast 84 - 86.

I think we underestimate how much RID 2000 and UT did to bring new characters and reinvent a dead lore. I guess that there are established characters for some themes, e.g. cars and planes, but for themes which move away from Earth there is plenty of room for innovation. I think that Cybertron did it right - four themes in the same toyline, room for G1, BW, later G1 and non-g1 in the same toyline.

The G1 stuff can get exhausting, but Kingdom is giving us transforming dinosaur skeletons that can turn into bone weaponry so I can only be so mad

I wish Generations started out from the beginning with Studio Series 86 style attention to the G1 source material. I love G1 but I'm getting sick of seeing the same characters getting redone over and over, each time just slightly better than the last. Studio Series 86 figures like Hotrod, Jazz, etc. are the only versions of those characters we ever needed to be made. Just make the figure as close to the source material as possible, knock it out of the park, then move on to new characters.

Variety is the spice of life the same 15 characters over an over not so much. Though they do farm the obscure these days as well so they do deserve some brownie points for that too - even if for some odd reasons they can't seem to get some E-Hobby Minibot homages or an Earthrise or Siege Sunstorm & Detritus out there - that seems like something worth a go to me.

I certainly appreciate them nudging towards the later 1980's and even getting close to the 1990's with the Micromasters - & POTP Pretenders.
I don't think it's quite as crazy now as it once would have seemed to imagine a modern take on Pyro & Clench or even Skyquake sometime too.

I like your responses. The constant reuse and "homages" of 84-86 characters is getting tiresome, and a couple of you did say that you would like to see new characters and ideas, which I am totally on board for. Like I said before, I can see why some people aren't burnt out, the SS 86 line is giving animation accurate characters so that's good, right? However, (weird reference but whatever) transformers are starting to feel like Ben 10. It was a great show but now it's getting repetitive and it is constantly rebooted. Which is what Transformers are doing every 3 lines. (Another reference) They should play it like Yu-Gi-Oh: keep the basic idea but bring new characters each line to keep it fresh and exciting. And to make sure they don't forget fan favourites, have a crossover series between each line. Ah well, I'm still glad Transformers hasn't become an unpopular franchise.

I think some people are forgetting two rather important things here:

    1) this is a toy line aimed by Hasbro at children, specifically 8 to 13 (I think, the numbers may be off, but that's the rough range).

    2) Hasbro expects customer turnover after something like three years maximum.

There are very real reasons why they produce what they do, and why they re-do toys periodically.

The 80s designs have been used for the last 3 decades, they’re by far the most recognizable designs for the characters. That’s like asking why Superman still looks more or less like he did when he debuted yet is still targeted to kids. What kid cares about stuff from the 30s?

I'm not burnt out, just buying less. Thrilling 30 is what got me into Transformers, so I'm regularly buying figures that fit that overall look. I like boxy angles, a variety of colors, and unique robot modes. Repeat characters isn't very appealing to me, and I don't need to "buy 'em all" (like collecting Seekers, Datsuns, etc), so Hasbro constantly re-releasing the collector bait figures does nothing for me.

What concerns me more is the poor build quality in a lot of the Earthrise line. Siege had us all gushing over the quality, Earthrise was a steep drop from Siege, for the most part.

Painted translucent plastic hinges and tabs have got to go, and the thin light plastic is bad. I remember when everyone was saying, "well (Siege) Ironhide's plastic is thin, but at least he's a large figure". His plastic quality seems to have become the norm for Earthrise. I'm burnt out on cheap-feeling figures at premium pricing.
