Grimlock is a thing of beauty. Would I like a sword? For sure. A clearer chest? Of course. A transfomable Wheelie? You betcha. Flip out covers for the forearm gap? Yep.

But none of this takes away from the sheer brilliance that is this figure. And a $15 forearm/sword upgrade is all this needs to be perfect.

Didn't say you were mocking anybody, I was merely pointing out that that has been a trend in this thread so far

Agreed with you on Grimmy PotP! The PotP line had great Diinobot molds which were all heavily compromised by the stoooooooopid forced Combiner feature. Same with Elita-1. If all of the Dinobots were in the same scale with Grimlock without the "Volcanicus":puke:  gimmick, who knows , it might have been the Second Coming for us all!

I feel the plastic could have been better used here for wrist/hand covers, sword and a blast effect. Wheelie as much as I\'m not a fan, should have his own figure.

I'll just give Grimlock the MP sword. Easy!

Has anyone claimed “no sword” is a deal-breaker? I’d like a sword, but it’s not a deal-breaker by any means. Hopefully Dr. Wu or someone comes through for us.

The more I look at Grimlock, the more I suspect he was pretty far in development before being switched to the SS line. His design cues just seem more WFC than Sunbow. He has more surface detailing than most figures in the '86 line, and has all the necessary 5mm ports for weaponizers. This is all speculation on my part, but he looks like he could fit right in with Kingdom toys.

I personally use the Reveal The Shield TLK Prime Sword for my POTP Grimlock

Honestly, the only 2 (so far) that I think were more or less final desings prior to SS86 are Grimlock and Scourge and that's simply due to how many 5mm ports they have on their bodies

I was thinking the same thing. The others were probably somewhere around the concept stage when they made the switch. Plus, Scourge pairs with Cyclonus in Kingdom very well.

Yep, pretty much in agreement. I disagree with anyone that says the likes of Hot Rod, Blurr, Jazz and Kup are exactly what we would have gotten if they were in WFC, but a stronger case can be made for Grimlock and Scourge being intended for WFC originally as is.

I think the only things about Grimlock I wonder about is really the rest of the Dinobots. We know we're getting a Slag (though I presume he'll be called Slug on the package), so what about the rest. It's one thing to get a Grimlock by himself, it's another not to complete the whole crew. And then it makes me wonder if we'd ever get toy redecos specifically of Slag and (a hypothetical) Swoop, as those are my preferred decos. Because these guys will all be bigger, I'm gonna be more gunshy about buying (what I consider to be) inferior decos only to have Hasbro later offer them in the colors I actually want.

Now I want to see SS Grimlock next to Masterpiece Grimlock for comparison

With lots of live action movie bots still not getting a studio series figure, i feel a little disappointed thar the focus of the line has moved on to the 86 movie. Especially as we are always getting G1 revisited.
