No, he's a waste of plastic. A blast effect to get lost in the junk drawer. I thought he did have knees. Damn.
Its based on the movie its on the packaging. The studio series is for films thus far. So my point still stands.
I definitely would have preferred a sword instead of Wheelie, but it's not remotely a dealbreaker. Yes, I know he didn't use a sword in the movie and no, I don't care. My only real complaint is that I don't own this already.
Gotta say, I agree with Dann86 here, the packaging is specifically branded for Transformers the Movie, so while it is Studio Series 86, it is more specifically Studio Series 86 Transformers the Movie
You could even argue that it’s just a fun little way to distinguish this subseries from the rest of the SS line, being that in the end 86 is simply a release number here. But ultimately it doesn’t really matter, does it? If Hasbro decides they want to add in season 3 characters later on, they will (and use whatever name to differentiate it from the TFTM subbranding).
This. Relatively easy engineering feature to design and incorporate into a transforming feature, yet left ignored by HasTak designers. Strange reason its omitted in modern stuff.
Looks like you could keep the main body, and swap in some old Action Master arms and legs if you want more articulation. I don't know how comparable they are in size though.
It’s still an ignorant argument. “He didn’t use it in the movie” is absolutely stupid to justify leaving out a common weapon, just so they could include a crappy Wheelie.
I’m surprised more people aren’t giving this mold grief for having a giant T-Rex head hanging off the back. That’s not present in the animation either and can be engineered to be put away. I’ve got Grimlocks much smaller than this that can achieve that. I like this toy a lot though. Most of the Siege and Earthrise stuff I’ve picked up remind me more of Studio OX representations of characters. That’s been an ongoing theme on the shelf and this guy fits right in there.
I’m thinking a 3rd Party is likely already planning on doing new arms, legs, and a small backpack to allow him to transform.
They should have just reissued the TR Wheelie in Kingdom Core Class and given Grimlock his sword. Grimlock is among the tallest G1 style Leader figures in a few years, anyway.
They can give all the Dinobots Hollow Arms for all I care. As long as they make all the Dinobots look as fantastic as GRIMLOCK
No, it’s a nitpick, because the arms aren’t hollow, there’s just a small space where the fists fold into. Saying the arms are hollow makes it sound like FOC Grimlock’s arms. The arms are solid, everything is solid, except the small cavity for the fists. That’s not “hollow.” I can’t even remember Grimlock using the sword during the series, though I’m sure he did.
I think I just like the way PotP Grimmy did the gold. That scheme on 86 Grimlock would be perfect. But like I said, it's my only real nitpick/gripe with the figure. Wouldn't keep me from buying it.
I cannot wait for this figure. Wheelie will likely go in my accessory bin. I\'m okay with them not including a sword because I know someone like Nonnef will make one that I can purchase. I\'m just hoping the other Dinobots are done in this fashion!
Absolutely love how this turned out, and very glad that I preordered two of them. Now, I can’t wait for Slag w/Daniel, and the rest of Dinobot clan, that are sure to follow.
