Grinder is straight up... whatever. I see this guy as a joke in comparison to Grinder, but I wouldn't expect less from a large MP.
He announced it on his Instagram, then a board member posted screenshots on a thread somewhere. Then PrimeVsPrime confirmed it on these boards. We know for certain that he got Kup, Blurr and Jazz through the partnership he has with Zavviuk and Hasbro. Grimlock seems to maybe not be through that deal, or maybe it is and he didn’t feel like showing off the box. The Hot Rod and Scourge reviews were made before the partnership seems to go into effect. To recruit him I’d a sound business deal for all parties involved. PrimeVsPrime keeps making his reviews, Hasbro gets a solid reviewer and hype man, and we all get to see figures early. Win-win-win.
Unfortunately, the rest of Grimlock references the animation model. So the dark chest and cartoon look clashes. Wish they stayed on toon and gave us the clear chest instead.
Really liking just about everything on display with Grim besides the moon boots-looking lower legs and Dino mode arms. Nice to see how he dwarfs POTP Grim, but I do wish he had his deco. The deco on SS86 is just so lame and simple. both heads look great! And nice to see a modern leader class figure that actually looks worthy of the price point.
I know right , grinder is a hefty gorrila , how can a CHUG figure have better proportion , better head, not featuring a toon dino head you have to buy after, much more affordable, pure joy to handle and dont have unnecessary gimmick (I used to be big supporter of Grinder but sold him , after messing with ss grimlock , i never look back)
It was time in 2018. That was supposed to be his year, and if he had won, he would have been the pinnacle of it. But it seems fate must make us wait for many years more. But on that day, on the day we get a proper Star Saber. A hole in my heart shall be forever filled.
As salty as I was then, I think Jetfire and Primal prove that the potential Commander Star Saber would be better than the Leader Star Saber they would have made then.
Grimlock looks amazing, though I would have liked more a sword and wrist covers instead of Wheelie (I know, I know, movie accuracy...). The size is also nice, after a lot of voyages in disguise is refreshing to see again a big leader bot,and the articulation seem to be even better than the MP. Looks like next year I'll have to buy lots of robot T-rexes.
The sculpt of this grimlock looks like FTs. Can any masters put together a side by side, pose for pose shots?
he's a downgraded MP grimlock without a sword and a terrible breastplate that is to dark so you can't see the autobot symbol well. He get's a 8,5/10. Now my only wish is the other 4 dinobots in the same scale!
What an excellent Grimlock. I passed on the POTP version because the proportions just looked too off, but if I did it would have gone in the junk pile since this one's coming out. People can bemoan Hasbro and their cost cutting measures, but it's hard to deny we are getting the best mainline retail versions of a lot of characters lately.
Grimlock's the only SS86 figure I intend on getting, have it preordered, like how it's looking. Will be really nice having him standing beside the AOE SS Grimlock and Animated Grimlock.
