Hey, all, Anyone else having difficulty with tabbing the devil face on to their ER Quintesson Judge? I eventually took some sand paper to the tab on the back of its face. Maybe I was doing it wrong? The green face tabbed on with no trouble...so it was weird (and frustrating). Also, the pegholes on the energy beam at the base seem too shallow for the peg on the throne. It makes the figure sit rather unsteadily. (I thought I saw someone post a similar concern elsewhere on the boards, but I can't seem to find it.)
I sanded down the peg on the stand. Also, both face plates were tough until I figured the trick is to hook the top peg first then plug in the bottom one. Not sure if it will work every time but it worth a try.
I just got him this afternoon and thought I had the same problem. I didn't have to make any alterations to the figure. There is a small plate that the face attaches to. You have to kinda slide it up a little so it sticks out and slide the face plate in from the top down. I hope I explained it well enough, he is an awesome figure once everything is sussed out.
Yeah, my first 20 minutes with the thing were of supreme disappointment. I kept trying to tab it in and it simply wouldn't grab it. I kept thinking, oh even if I somehow get it to hold, it won't be secure. Irony being irony, just then one of the tabs grabbed a mask and wouldn't let go - of course, it was the wrong mask on the wrong tab. With a thin exacto blade, I did get it to pop off again. The tabs are now each holding the respective masks surprisingly securely and they'll not likely pop off. It seems like a trial of faith. But yes, you should be able to pop it on and it shouldn't require any mods.
I didn’t have to do any sanding - from dinobot1’s post in the Quintesson judge feedback thread all I had to do was carefully unscrew the back plate of the head, snap the plate in, then screw the face back on for both heads. Worked like a charm for me!
Okay, it’s not just me. I got the green face on with a little bit of trouble but the red face won’t go on no matter what I try. I have the tab lifted up and I keep trying to slide it in at an angle but it’s no go. I may try unscrewing the face from the back plate next. Okay, taking the face off the back plate did the trick.
I got three yesterday and the face plates attached without incident. Kind-of easy actually. This is the exact solution. You just need to really press the upper peg in firmly, then simply press the lower one in. Clicks right in place.
It's a YMMV kind of deal. I got three and five faces worked like a charm and clicked right on, but the last red face wouldn't go on for the life of me until I unscrewed the back plate and got it attached that way. Its just not as simple as it appears on all copies.
I tried that, believe me. Some of them have a QC issue specific to the red/wrath face, but I'm glad to hear it isn't universal!
It's actually deceptively simple. I had seen in another thread that someone else was having a the same problem and I saw their solution first. If I hadn't seen that I probably would have broken the thing trying to get that face attached. And it's weird because it's only that face that is the problem too.
Worked out that the head position matters... bought one off a guy that could not get the red head on. Compared to Pit Of Judgement, and he had green and red around the wrong way. Pried green off, and both slotted straight in.... i had been working on red for an hour before doing this
Mine just arrived from BBTS. Clipping the green head from top first to bottom worked easily, however the red face is acting like an ex-wife and just refuses.
Oh, this. I ended up glueing in the red head after filing the tab off. I don't care how many people say how "easy" it was, it was the one thing that decided for me not to get the Pit of Judgment set.
Just bought him this afternoon and after a good twenty minutes of trying to attach the red head, I ended up using a scissors to shave the slot which did work. Shouldn't have to do that with a brand new figure.
Doesn't help sell the set any better. The impression taints the figure forever. The first time you handle a figure you have a very bad impression on (to put it mildly), you'd be very resistant on buying another one of that same toy because of your experience with the first one.
Τhree arrived today. I literally broke my fingers trying to assemble the first all three, both faces wouldnt tab in with the indicated method....I also got extremely sweaty out of fear I might break the tab....Then I took a screw driver, removed the face screw, disassembled the faces, slotted the white piece alone on the tab, reassembled and put the screw in. Save yourselves the grief and potential breakages or straining the thin plastic tab, by doing this. It its just 5 minutes of work and you are done.
Only the red face gave me an issue. I unscrewed the back, less strain on the face, and was able to snap in. I didn't intend on ever removing the faces anyway. Don't care for alt-mode.
I've 3 of them and I've followed Emgo instructions about red face. On one the red face connected istantly anoher was a little more difficult but I could hear the click revealing has worked but on third nothing, head even flied from my hand rather than connect on the egg. I suspect that this one has excess of plastic as I had read, so real QC.
