Because the alt mode is just one of the designs from BBM that are simply garbage to translate into toy. It’s too slim for Hasbro to work with and the robot bits need to end up somewhere

I agree, I like how stylized it is though I think siege has a better robot.

Seriously I'm getting some impossible toys vibe here in bot mode:

Yes, I hope they get a redeisgn, especially the Autobots. They all look as last-minute-thrown-together as they actually were, which is fine for the matter of seconds they were on screen in the Cybertron scene, but definitely not good enough for a whole film. Though if it's a different director, I'm sure they'll have their own vision and interpretation of the characters. Bee and Optimus were vastly different from their Bayverse designs, even when it was intended as a prequel. I'd be fine with Bumblebee just being a standalone movie and having a total reboot.

Anyway, back on topic, I don't think the figure looks as bad as some people are saying, it looks like the onscreen character, and while the underside of the vehicle mode is a bit messy, it does represent something that was there in the CG model, rather than the usual kibble found on a jet-former's undercarriage. But going forward, something less cartoonish is needed for more than a fleeting appearance.

Looks like the eyes in the hasbro pulse images are actually painted correctly. Much better in my opinion.

It wouldn't be a thread about new Studio Series figures without Paladin complaining about G1 taking over the Bayverse line. You can tell him a thousand times that the '86 movie stuff is just to keep the SS going until the next live-action movie comes out (he doesn't realize a global pandemic messed up the plans for movies and movie-based toylines) but he'll just keep repeating himself ad nauseam.

I’m not sure if it’s the photos or the paint job, but it looks cheaply made. Almost like it’s a knockoff. That tertrajet mode is kind of garbage, too. I had a feeling it wasn’t going to translate well into a toy just because of how weird it looked in the movie.

I might purchase this when it goes on sale, but a part of me is thinking on just waiting until Bumblebee 2 is released. I expect they’ll flesh out the Cybertronian designs a bit more in that film, thus resulting in a much better looking Starscream.

Not to mention, they haven't really done *all* the movie verse figures?
I feel like they kind of setup that precedent.... but there's multiple key figures left.
I could see *why* they wouldn't make them of course, but who knows!
    A new Jolt?
    A new Galvatron?
    Multiple dinobots still not remade.
They even reissued some figures straight up, but others haven't been. (TLK voyager Megatron was near perfect, if not for an option on the face shield)

Looks pretty good. For a $25 toy, he seems like fair value. I\'ll wait for a MPM version, tho.

I don\'t buy Studio Series (aside from the upcoming SS86), but if they retool this guy into Thrust... I\'ll absolutely get it and use it as Armada Thrust.

Looks like the paint job. The color choices are like bright basic lego block colors for kids. The jet mode looks like something out a future earth universe and not an alien robot that has no small meatbags to pilot it in a cockpit that shouldn't exist.

And that bottom gun that should be a mere extension of the side wings is more of a kibbleformed lower that overshadows almost tge whole jet.

The top down of the jet looks great but then......all that shite underneath just ruins it. The robot mode is solid enough though.

Y'know, I like TF1 just fine. In fact, as the years go by, I find myself growing more and more nostalgic for it. I even re-bought the original Leader Megatron from 2007, not the premium one, just the normal "ice blue" one purely for nostalgia and love of that design. Even Starsscream, Dorito chicken that he is, is an immensely cool, threatening, and bizarre design I can't help but love. Looking back at the 07 movie Decepticons they were so metal and cool, and really felt dangerous.

But part of me wonders if this was the Starscream toy we got in 2007, how would history have gone? It's so obviously G1, but with more detail and lanky proportions which, IMO, suit Starscream perfectly. He's still suitably bulky, but the whole silhouette feels like it's custom-made for the character. Would people have been so critical of this toy if this were the live-action Starscream we got from the get-go? I can't help but wonder that.

To be fair, that's almost always what Cybertronian modes look like. Even Siege had cockpits and windows. It's not an actual cockpit, just cockpit-like details. (perhaps covering a sensor package?) Even the G1 cartoon gave the TFs not only windows, but in Wheeljack's case an actual interior.

That's the only thing that kinda sucks, and yet because it's an alien jet it doesn't really bother me that much. It was there in the movie, albeit a bit thinner. The fact that it's in such a distinct block-shape with the gun on the very tip reminds me of some kind of Star Wars fighter.
