A very valuable contribution, nor the least to say on subject, and quite a unique retort. And you need to up the 'stay on subject' game.

You can see 'my time after time' three quotes above which have nothing to do with talking crap about the figueres. Speaking of games you need to up your reading comprehension game as well.

Also if you have better things to do, then zip it and move on. The fact that you posted without understanding a thing and yet were judgemental about things you thought yet didnt understand a thing about, means you have the time to be a critic. A failed one at that, but still. So up your awareness game as well as your criticism game.

Just my 2 cents, I'm part of the club which highly appreciates all non-partsforming-gimmick-which-let-the-alt-mode-resembles-a-real-car-model.
Any other type of additional separate gimmick (guns, weapons, beams, stands, battle-damage-tests, etc, is useless and makes for me just annoying volume on the final box. :)

And I'm totally fine with all that gimmick-stuff. Guess that's why we're all different & it would be nice to talk about the figures w/o drama.

    Edit: clarity

Correct on both accounts. That doesnt mean concerns and differing opinions shouldnt be held or expressed though, right?
Also I never said the figures themselves are/will be trash, as erroneously has been suggested. Civil discussion is great even with different points of view.

So does anyone think we might get an energon downshift repaint to go with the diaclone repaints that the other two have?

I kinda doubt we'll even get the Diaclone repaints as they were prototype colours - the actual Diaclone figures had the same colours as the TFs. But who knows - XTB are pretty prolific with milking repaints these days so never say never.

I am still hoping XTB makes a Punch and Counterpunch. That's a guarantee to sell 2 copies for Autobot and Deception display.

I only feel nostalgic for the first 3 movies, personally. AoE is alright, but TLK is fucking garbage.

While I had MPM Bee and Barricade, I sold them off so I could fully focus on G1 MPs and G1 IDW stuff. Though if the recent rumors of '77 Camaro Bee being the next MPM ring true, I think i'll be making an exception, haha.

Though if I got movie stuff again, I have a feeling ThreeZero will be my choice that time around. Their DOTM Bee, Megatron, Prime and Starscream look PERFECT.

I'm in for all three, if & when XTBots release these. Always wanted updated & larger versions of the Omnibots. Now to sit back, enjoy the ride and see if Has/Tak decide to do these guys also. MP versions & Generations versions. Everybody wins!!

Since you like repetition without context, I suggest banging your head to a wall.

I’m a “tooncentric” type but I’ll love getting some Omnibots. I’ll take a Topspin and Twin Twist, too and probably a Roadbuster and Whirl. No real interest in deluxe Insecticons though, for whatever reason. All this to say you never know what will sell well.

I suppose that's true, but from a business perspective-- given that the Omnibots inhabit a very small niche within early G1-- designing them to be toy-centric is the wiser move (at least initially). But hey, if they sell well, there's no reason they shouldn't get some toon-centric love too.

I think MMC has already done Roadbuster and Whirl (albeit in IDW fashion), and FansProject (?) did at least a couple of the deluxe Insecticons. Not sure about Topspin and Twin Twist. I had their original figures as a kid, but their gimmicky transformation and oddball non-Earth alt modes didn't really appeal to me.

Dont the deluxe insecticons do the same though? (playing devils advocate here)

I believe the market right now is highly saturated with "Mainstream" characters, so niche offerings like both teams, could sell relatively well.

At long last the Omnibots get a bit more love, the frikkin' Powerdashers got new official toys before any of these guys got a single new figure. :lolol

oh yeah I don’t expect “toon style” Omnibots just nice updates of the toys but they’ll still be a part of my MP collection, even though it generally strives for toon accuracy.

I agree-- the deluxe Insecticons are also a pretty small niche, being less-collected early figures that didn't see screen time. Similarly, I think they are more likely to have larger a "toy-centric" audience, just because "toon-centric" collectors more often (not always) can credit the cartoon for their TF enthusiasm. The Diaclone "tribute" toys out there, I think, find home more often in toy-centric collections. I made sure to pick up MP-18B simply because I pined for a blue Bluestreak toy as a kid (I spent many hours looking at the toy catalogue poster and drawing his box art).

I also think the difference between the toon and toy aesthetic involves much more than just head sculpts and tampos. The engineering itself needs to be different if you really want to truly please both groups, meaning one basic mold likely won't suffice. MP-44 and MP-52 exist for this very reason. MP-10 remains my collection's "modern" OP because he's more toy-accurate, though I painted his face and stickered his forearms to make him more so, and I still wish his robot mode showed wheel kibble. I own MP-47 Hound only because I found him cheap and had a gap in my lineup. He required paint and face sculptwork before I was "ok" with him, but I'll likely repaint him into Detritus (or scrap him for parts) if Fanstoys re-issues Willis.

I hope the market continues to support both toon- and toy-centric collectors. The more, the merrier. Personally, I see this Omnibot project by X Transbots as an indication that the cartoon-accuracy direction taken by TT with their Masterpiece figures isn't universal.
