I thought mine had the same stress marks on the outer knee as well but my smokescreen has the same marks only less visible due to the paint and smoke colored plastic. It's possible these are not stress marks, but instead are where the plastic mold angles on the other side of the clear plastic. At least I hope that's the case.
Ok, picked up Bluestreak today, and he's great! I can see how the alt mode fitment might be bothersome, but it's not bad on my copy, so it's a nitpick. Other than that, he's perfect. Another mini masterpiece, as far as I'm concerned. Absolutely blows the Siege mold away, and I loved that figure. I think the only thing I miss is the gunmetal paint on the Siege shoulders, otherwise ER Bluestreak is a home run. Also, the one I got I found in store, but I still have another one coming from an online order, so I'll have an extra if anybody wants it.
I got a copy today and do not have any major issues other than he needs some floor polish to lock in his arms proper and to cure wonky knees and crotch. I'll see how I like him after it all cures up. like the face better than the siege one for some reason.
Cool, that is a good idea as well - I didn't want to do this on Smokescreen as those sections are painted on him!
Yeah, it's not a good solution for Smokescreen at all but before reading about your success with heating I was worried about trying that as I've had some types of transparent actually shrink and/or deform when exposed to heat treatment (Mainly one of the Wreckage repaint Movie Bludgeon repaint's sword blades on an accidental exposure after not thinking to remove it whilst working on another part of the figure). Your bravery is appreciated!
So after applying future I must say this guy is pretty great. I usually have to put some future on every TF I buy with a few exceptions. Snapdragon being the most recent that doesn’t need anything. I got the transformation right and the arms even properly peg into the doors to fully lock everything in. I may be a lucky purchaser but if this is any indication I’m in for the other two dats
After my 1st unfortunate experience with Bluestreak here I swore off this mold, and had determined to return my Walgreen's order on arrival. But then I made an impulsive leap and purchased Smokescreen. So far, so good and so I think I will give Bluestreak here 1 more try. And then Prowl gets released in a few days from Amazon. If there are no more problems then this has to be a record for the shortest period of time for collecting a figure trio. ***edit*** Got Bluestreak #2 today. No breakage! Some really stiff joints. But dang those gap fillers in the feet will fall off / pop off if you look at them funny. I’m not one for getting upgrade or filler kits but I may entertain it with this mold.
So I've had my Bluestreak a couple of days now and have been fiddling with it. I don't think they issues are related to the outsides of the knees needing to be shaved down. Hear me out - I transformed one leg at a time, completely, leaving the other leg in robot mode and everything fits together snuggly. When I switch the legs, everything fits together again. It's only when both legs are transformed at the same time that there's the obvious gaps to the rear of the doors, everything doesn't want to sit flush, and it feels like the legs are pushing themselves apart. So it's like there's some clearance issues when the legs are pushed against one another but I can't for the life of me figure out what area is pushing them apart to try and sand it down. Has anyone else tried the one leg at a time approach and seen everything fit great only to have both legs pushing apart cause all sorts of small but annoying gaps?
Huh... maybe I just got a dud. Guess I'll grab another when I see it in store and see what the deal is. Thanks for the pic!
Have you had a look in the feet? I had some apparent mould flashing on the areas indicated and shaved them down but it seemed to take shaving the knees to get my 'Streak to stay together properly. Might be worth a check of inside both feet to see if yours has too?
Looks like both legs are still transformed for car mode. I just checked, no flash unfortunately. I'll see if I can't find another at some point and compare them. Thank you both for the input!
Yeah, mine's got the knee stress marks on the outside clear plastic. Hopefully it doesn't get worse. Reading back through the entire thread seems I managed to dodge the loser lottery. My roof isn't completely flush and neither are the legs on the bottom in alt mod and the hands don't completely peg into the door but none of these are major issues and really effect the alt mode. Gotta just watch out for the clear plastic on the roof and knees.
Hey, so I noticed that it's possible to store the shoulder weapons inside alt mode, with minimal modding. Just plug them into the ports on the forearms and rotate the arms 180 at the bicep swivel before slotting them up into the car. The only thing required to make it all fit properly is shaving off the blast effect attachment point on the left forearm, which you can see I've done in the first pic. You also lose the ability to tab the forearms to the doors, but I was never really able to tab them securely anyway, and the doors still slot in place just fine. It's not a game changer or anything, but I always prefer being able to store weapons inside the vehicle. Unfortunately there's no way I can see to secure the main weapon anywhere inside, despite the fact there's room for it under the hood.
Ingenious! I was thinking about getting rid of that blast peg anyway as I'm constantly worried it'll scratch the paint on his head as I transform it back and forth.
I just opened my Bluestreak and have not noted anything wrong quality control wise. I've transformed him several times also and have not had any problems with any of it. Overall, he is a great figure but there are a few things that bug me. The first is that the black on the hood and roof do not carry over to the back windows and to the spoiler. Not a big deal though and I do give Hasbro kudos for giving him some brake lights anyway which ER Smokescreen lacks. The bigger issue that draws my eye in robot mode are the clear plastic knee joints. They are fine now but I hope they do not become a problem on down the road. Especially with how the knees are folded up when transforming him.
Found Bluestreak today at Walgreens. I really, really prefer this mold over the Siege version. Mine has a slight paint irregularity on the hood, other than that he seems pretty great.
