Never knew Swoop's design was controversial; he's the one I want the most after Grimlock. A whole team of Roche ones would be nice but those are the two stand out unique ones imo. Sludge's size and Slag's tail are also nice, Snarl is off memory the most "G1 drawn by Roche" but that looks good

 

He does heaps of times in the various comic lines from Marvel to Dreamwave.

 

The more I think about it, the more I wouldn't mind seeing PX make the other Dinobots. I don't really care how big they need to be. Ever since Age of Extinction, I've had a desire for giant dinosaur robots.

 

Personally, I’d be happy just displaying Grimlock with Nickel, but then I’d have a spare “The Pet” from MMC that I don’t really want all that much.

I also don’t really think I should wait to see if PX will also do their own Nickel.

And, to top it all off, I really do like MMC’s Ravage, but there’s no reason that they ever would’ve packed that with Nickel.

I also am gunna have to get Ismenios, eventually. While there are aspects of D-Zef that I also like, Ismenios is definitely the better IDW Deathsaurus.

How could anyone not love that beaming smile on Grimlock?

Though, FWIW, there’s not much of a difference in Dino mode.

It’s certainly cutting things close, but, if they had protos to show, we would’ve seen them last weekend.

So, give it a month... maybe two.

My bet, though, is that that release date is a tad optimistic.  

Transformers Animated’s Swoop did a really good job of being a robot who turns into a realistically proportioned pterodactyl, so it’s certainly possible.

 

true, I do like the look of Animated Swoop. But the highly exaggerated Animated aesthetic lent itself to slender figures. Might be more difficult in a more realistic design frame.

 

Agreed on both points. Still wondering how he changed bot mode, but somehow maintained the same beast mode. Did scorponok give him a body change while torturing him?

Artists have frequently made artistic changes in the characters without any explanation over the course of IDW. It is what it is.

If you need an in-universe explanation, you can look way back to the Grimlock Spotlight, where he returned to his ship and observed that it was too damaged to let him make anything more than cosmetic changes to his forms. Extrapolate that they have technology for easy makeovers that he used sometime between UM taking him in to custody and the fall of Garrus-9.

 

The only major differences are the head, the hands, and the chest.

The first two don’t have a plot reason, but there is a chance that third bit could have been modified for the sake of containing a certain MacGuffin.

 

yeah the idea of him being reformatted in garrus 9 makes sense. The magnificence did need a new chamber so that did probably require a retool. The hands is anyone's guess, maybe he just got them repainted In prison. And while the spotlight solution is interesting I doubt magnus let him do that

Thanks, same I mean it's coming out in January so they should be showing it soon their FOC Shockwave was shown then a month or so later they showed it in color before release so we should see it hopefully soon.

 

Still no updates on this guy? How close do Planet X normally cut it to the release date?

 

We could possibly see an update of him on Friday night/Saturday, some 3p companies will be there and Planet X is usually there

 

Hm SGC is pretty late this year.

 

At least it's happening this year! Hopefully we see something new about Grimlock, or maybe even the next one up after him!

I'm still betting on the hope most of all that we FINALLY see something new about FT Dead End. Bonus points if we see something not yet shown off.
