Wow, Gamestop has really been coming through lately.

I had that problem at first. The head has a ball joint that goes into the body instead of the ball joint going from the neck into a hole in the head. I put a little force on it and it started moving. The joint is a little stiff but he can look up and down now.

 

It's very odd that they want to the trouble of painting the car body panels, but did it in a semi-matte gray. Why not metallic?

I think they were trying to go for the brushed stainless steel look reminiscent of the original car.

 

But stainless is metallic. The battleship grey they used on the toy doesn't capture that at all.

 

Exactly. Brushed bare metal still looks like bare metal. Not grey paint.

 

Stainless can be pretty dull, I've scrapped plenty of it that didn't have any sort of shiny metallic look to it

 

True, but Doc's DeLorean was only a couple years old and in great shape. (until it got to the Wild West)

 

Just wondering if anyone saying the DeLorean doesn't have a shine to it has ever seen one in real life...

 

Or even watched the movie.





It's satin metallic, but metallic nonetheless.

 

Just go look at your kitchen sink. Brushed stainless steel, most likely.

 

I was only asking if people have seen one in real life before someone claims the one in the movie is due to post-processing or some other sort of movie magic to make it look shiny. I've seen a few regular ones in person in addition to the hero car, as in the actual one they used in the movie, at the Petersen and can confirm that it is indeed shiny and not matte. It's not shiny like metallic paint or even something with a clearcoat, but it's definitely reflective, which is probably a better term to describe it.

 

The struggle of trying to describe the finish on a Delorean is pretty entertaining lol it’s a brushed stainless steel finish... that’s it. Gigawatt is nowhere near the actual finish of a Delorean, but the attempt to emulate the brushed effect is admirable. The gray isn’t as metallic as it should be. Funny enough the promo pictures actually really nail that brushed stainless steel. Look at that hood!

 

We took one step forward with the tinted windows and one step backwards with the gray 

 

Nah, I've seen one locally at a shop a few times. It is not shinny like polished steel or chrome... to be fair, if it was, it'd be a nightmare to look at on a sunny day.

 

I should be getting my Gigawatts tomorrow, I can post comparisons to a DeLorean.

 

Ah, damn it. Looks like we have yet another clearance issue. After a few transformations, I've noticed that the bottom of the yellow 9 has been scraped away by rubbing against the back of the head. This one is a real huge bummer for me.

 

Between discounted Sky Lynx, Super 7 Transformers & now Gigawatt, GameStop has come through once again!
