Great! I had been thinking punch/counterpunch needed a second chance. Very good mold. Yes, I have the original, and yes I am buying precisely one of this new set.

 

Eh, I have the original Punch/Counterpunch release from the special box set from a couple of years ago. Prefer the original dark blue coloring antways. Big pass.

 

Light colors and unpainted hubcaps don't do that mold any favors. Not a fan of Barricade's wheel clips being different colors either. If only they'd been pinned, like quality figures of the past.

 

Im hoping barricade gets another release, but I'm.actually tempted because counch puntercounch is just a novel idea...


If only he had siege level feet retooled out of a new roof or something...

 

It works with my head cannon regarding this character: Once upon a time, there was both a Punch and a Counterpunch as two separate individuals. They were brothers in the same Sideswipe/Sunstreaker sense. Punch was a violent hot head, but Counterpunch was a chill laid back dude. They disagreed on a lot, but still loved each other. When the war broke out, Punch became an Autobot, specifically a special agent under Prowl's command. Counterpunch went to the decepticons because he believed in Megatron's original revolutionary message, but in a non-combat capacity. He was actually quite well liked among the decepticons. Punch felt personally betrayed, especially because he had a hard time getting along with others.

Prowl suggested that Punch extract Counterpunch and turn him, and prowl is not the kind of bot you say "no" to. When Punch met with Counterpunch, Counterpunch instead suggested they both run away from the war. Punch flew into a rage, and semi-accidentally killed his brother Counterpunch. Distrought, and unsure what to do, Punch pulls out Counterpunch's T-cog and incorporates it into himself, allowing him to mimic his brother's appearance. He then insinuates himself among the decepticons to fulfill Prowl's orders. The Trauma of this changes him, and splits his personality. As Punch, he now has a blunted aspect to him and is very quiet and self spoken. As Counterpunch, he vents his violent tendencies. And sometimes, he has visions of his brother speaking to him in his head, delusions or perhaps something brought on by the borrowed tcog.

Punch-Counterpunch's rival is Doubledealer, but that's another story...

The darker colors of the original feel very "decepticon" to me so I would use the new one as Punch and the original as Counterpunch

For some reason I really like the character Barricade but I already have the Siege version. I have the POTP punch and don't want another punch so for now I'm going to skip the box set.

 

That's correct, my source shared some of the box art images, but in general he normally only has access to or shares mainline info.

I also feel he doesn't share this info due to exclusives/specials changing so much every year. This way he minimises disappointed fans if/when things get cut

don’t get me wrong, motorcycle/armada sideways is bae but I at least want a new sideways in current transformers, he’s so cool and gets used so little now

 

Probably gonna have to grab this set when I can, since I missed out on the earlier Punch release and I wouldn't mind owning that Barricade.

 

I guess. But I would hope that when they finally get around to releasing some gobots they'd put more effort into them than that.

 

Anyone buying this that wanna split it? I have no interest in punch/Counterpunch but would love a barricade. I'm willing to split the cost of the set.

 

The P/CP in this set is subpar compared to the original.
