For Skywarp/Thundercracker, these'll be expensive redecos. I think it'd be a plus if both are out by the end of '22. Not impossible, but still aggressive for Takara, who've been gunshy about redecos since moving to more expensive releases. While these redecos aren't anywhere as prominent as SW/TC, of the larger MP molds since Megs, we've only gotten redecos of two (Megs as 36+, MP-44 as Nemesis sans trailer). We're still waiting on redecos for Hound and Bumble V2. The one mold they've been "aggressive" with in getting back out there is Sunstreaker, and that's a sexy Lambo and more on the lower end of newer MP mold prices.

It wouldn't surprise me if we hear about one or both before too long, but yeah this could still take a while, especially if Takara wants to do something a little different for the first MP-52 redeco (G2 Starscream, Ghost Starscream V2).

Outside of Waspinator or Rattrap, yeah maybe not, unless they moved to start doing Transmetal bodies already.

That said, we've been going only a few releases between BW retail releases since MP-32, so maybe news on that front by February-March?

Does that mean you 100% worked it out? Or are you just using the assumption of Jazz?

And what reasons for Screamer coming first?

 

  I gave up a long time ago. Does look like they brought some of the OG designers back to work on diaclone based MPs. Wonder if Ono will get a shot at a carbot. Wouldnt be surprised if he redesigns a new Sideswipe or does Trailbreaker and Hoist. I figure Jazz is something they would have had already worked out, but who knows.

 

Dang, thought we'd got an epiphany on our hands!  

It does bode well if they're basically giving the original designers a crack at redoing their own work with today's technology and materials. There should be an inherent passion there to take the best they could do then and look to do it again with better results. They'll be able to do stuff they that they would've loved to achieve 40 years ago but simply couldn't. An exciting prospect for design minded folks I'd think

 

It would be an honor to buy an Ono-designed MP carbot.

I think the designer's autograph should be on the boxes. Or even somewhere on the toy in an unobtrusive spot.

 

Moulded into the plastic under a panel that stays the same orientation in both modes, like under the hood. I can get behind that idea!

 

I thought so too, be a great move to pick up some of the hardcore Diaclone fans. Seeing what he did with Starscream, I'm even more excited to see Raiden. I kind of hoping for a repeat of 2019 and they can squeeze us out 2 more new molds

I know they stress the "team" more than "I', but that would be pretty cool on these special releases where they bring in OG guest designers versus the regular team.

 

I came to the idea from watching supercar review videos, where you often see the designer or the inspector's autograph on the engine. It's a prestige touch for something positioned as a top-level product in its market.

 

I’m hoping we see waspinator due to his connection with starscream in beast wars.

The fact the coronation gear isn’t included with mp-52 still boggles my mind a lil but I would assume it’s takaras way of telling us galvatron isn’t near release. I might me overthinking the omission of the coronation gear though.

 

What are tour top 3 characters that you'd like to see Takara make (or remake) into an MP ?

I know ...2 remoulds! I would love to have definitive G1 cartoon accurate versions of these characters though. with paint etc.

Always kinda surprised there aren't more 3rd party offerings of Rodimus Prime or Ultra Magnus ...They're fan favourite characters so seems strange to not capitalise on it. Seeing how good the recent Studio series Hot Rod looks, they should definitely give these a go.

Really tough call. I feel I could have a “complete” Autobot collection with MP-44, MP-45, MP Jazz, and a new MP Ironhide. MP-27 is almost good enough that I’d maybe take a new Sideswipe instead, so I could add him and Sunstreaker to the Autobots too. Those are probably the most iconic and memorable for me.

For Decepticons, I’d be delighted with a new Soundwave to go along with MP-36, MP-29 and MP-52.

It's a tough call. I want a full set of the carbots. I want Skids, but if anybody could get left out it would be him. I want a new Sideswipe, but I don't want him more than a character we don't have at all. I assume Trailbreaker also guarantees Hoist.
