Well I showed a picture earlier where they are nearly the same size, and I couldn't really find that many comparison pics of them next to each other. Its annoying. I have the whole victory series on disc's, but I cant access them due to no longer having a global box. But here's more comparison pics to help prove the point. And honestly, regardless of the cartoon, it really depends on what the people want

Guess it's time to find a KFC Simba, since Deathsaurus is coming. (Already picked up the upgrade kit for Star Saber too.)

Anybody have a lead on Simba?

He is floating around ebay and other places. I suspect he may get a reissue tho.

I wouldn't go that far. Sure XTB have drastically improved since Ollie v.1 but their Gravestone was still miles behind Roadking. I would ranked them third behind MMC and FansToys.

Have you seen what FT have become? That is why I made the comparison, nowadays FT's bots are plagued by issues... The most recent example is their Thomas.

Is not plagued by issues. Has 2 common but not universal issues that are annoying but not catastrophic.

I'm happy with the scale. Don't need to play around with that. But this figure looks... pretty average. I hope it turns out well because I'd love a good Deathsaurus figure to go with MP Star Saber. Planet-X and MMC have good-looking ones but they're far too small for Masterpiece Star Saber, unfortunately.
Something that worries me is that this was rumoured to be released at the end of last year, but a year later, we're only just seeing renders of this figure. Hopefully it's just stuff being re-prioritised within the company, but the Menasor trailer situation doesn't fill me with much hope.

To be honest, I'm not a FansToys guy but a lot of people swear by them.

Dead End has significant paint chipping on the thighs, but whether that is a major issue or not varies widely based on you who ask so I feel it is best to mention it and let the person reading decide for themselves. Motormaster's Ab Crunch hinge does cause anxiety for a lot of people but has not actually caused a problem to date. Whether that changes in the future remains unknown. That said even if it becomes a problem some day it can be mostly avoided by just not using the Ab Crunch so much lower concern than Dragstrip (I think it locks in place when not in use).

Not to be a downer but I don't know what this is, never saw him in the cartoons I watched, comics I read, etc. And unfortunately doesn't strike me or fall into the category of "cool looking bot I'll just buy cause I'm bored."

Looks like a blocky robot chicken. Lol.

Happy for those that want this. It's not something I need in my collection unfortunately.

Do these look better? Cause as I said, this toy fails to capture the anime proportions that he usually has

@Duke spino thanks for the pics. I'll concede that he looks better in the pics than the figure (in my uninformed opinion), but still prob not something I'd personally want to pick up.

I do my fair share of purchasing random bots that don't necessarily fit my collection if they look cool. Just not sure I'm digging the robot chicken. If anything I'd prob stick him with my fans hobby monster bots. Lol.

If ur into the figure I'm happy for u. Just not sure how well this will do as not sure what the demand for this character is...

I’ve bought every Fanstoys figure this year and I have all the XTB Stunticons and I can say that the quality is on par. The only differences I can feel is FT has more diecast than any other 3P currently. That doesn’t necessarily mean anything in regards to quality. The last XTB fig I got was their Seaspray and it has better QC than any of the FT figures I bought this year.

You said that the problem is that he is meant to scale with the current MP Starsaber. And I pointed out that despite, this they could completely ignore that scale and make their own offerings at what scale they thing is better, as showcased by two other companies making dinobots, despite Grimlock existing.

There's definitely a possibility but it's on the lower end. Generally 3p try to steer clear from competing with stuff that hastak has already produced. Obviously there are exceptions like the prime situation but that was probably because prime is just generally marketable and will sell well. Star saber is pretty niche even in the tf community.

Yeah but its a piece that is sold out virtually everywhere, and as far as I know no reissue is planned ahead so....

Yeah but how many people are we talking that went in on the official and would be wanting to get a new one? I'm assuming most of the interest in the character is from the japanese fanbase which probably make up a really tiny part of the already small 3p community. There are people like you and me that do enjoy the character but I don't think there are really enough of us out there for any 3p company to take the risk. We've already seen how incredibly niche releases can cripple companies like Maketoys.
