A Rioter Despotron retool, by the looks of it.


I made an Imgur album with all the TFCon2020 Slides for convenience and to not clog this post with pics. I'll update as we get more images: Maketoys MTCD-06 (Shockwave)

 

It's nice to see that Maketoys still function, but they could've done so much with Shockwave in this style. I'm disappointed to see that he's basically Megatron with a new head and chest.

More importantly, where's my Rodimus update, Maketoys?  

 

Okay, so:

a) I'm down for this. I got into this line for Rioter Despotron in the first place, so I am totally down for a remold.

b) Not thrilled that this is apparently coming out in January but still no sign of the Galvatron we've been seeing for two years now.

c) Given how the Protectobot and Jazz reissues turned out, not holding my breath too hard here.

 

It is glorious.

Hopeful that MakeToys can come back strong.

It is a shame that Shockwave turned out to be a retool, but considering how dead Maketoys seems to be nowadays, getting anything from them at all is welcome. I'll happily accept a retool. Even if I was never too thrilled with the Rioter Despotron mold to begin with.

 

Gonna be honest, always wanted the despotron mold but never got it. Might get this.

 

Rodimus?! WHERE’S GALVATRON?!

 

Looks cool, but a bit too far left of center for me.

 

I mean, I'm not really feeling it, but if this is what MT needs to do to get the funds to make their Galvatron...

 

Happy that Cross Dimension lives! Not quite sure on the DOTM-esque head, but I'm just glad to see there's still activity.

 

To be honest, I don't mind them doing CHUG approach retools as MMC has been doing, but Maketoys will need to get a versatile mould out like a carbot or jetbot.

It is clever of them to retool Rioter Despotron into a Shockwave.

If Shockwave is MTCD-06 after MTCD-05 Skywing, then Rioter Galactron must have been pushed back to MTCD-07 despite them having a prototype mould, and Rodimus might still be on the drawing board.

I haven't been looking at 3P figures for ages ever since I bought both colours of their Skywing, which were also my last 3P purchase.

 

This is awesome!! I remember emailing them this as an idea after I got my own Rioter! Go Maketoys!

Clearly a rioter despotron remold, but it almost works better for shocks than megs bc shocks was a futuristic gun

 

I also happen to like that they seem to have blended movie elements in a bit. The arm sheild cannon for one, really reminds me of the movie ver, as well as his legs a little bit. Mightve been unintentional, but still. And as someone said the eye looks a bit movie. But they managed to still make it g1 shockwave and I like that. Makes sense the scientist would test on himself if there's no one else to practice on

 

Nobody bats an eyelash at the seeker repaints so I think Shockwave being a retool is completely fine.

Still it's a sign of life and I'll take that.

 

He has double wrist cannons! this looks so much fun this is exactly what I want from Maketoys.

I just wish they could have retooled the gun into a stationary cannon, guns have zero play value for me.
