ooooof,yeah this is obviously the rushed figure of the wave. makes you wonder why they even bothered and instead go with a bee with some actuall notable differences like evasion or dotm bee.

but atleast tf6 bee is a thing (most likely a cliffjumper repaint) so that should be the bee to get.

 

Hey Pixelmaster, I just wanted to ask a question unrelated to ROTF: you said a few days ago they’re retooling Blitzwing into BB movie Starscream. Is I just a simple head swap, or are they changing the alt mode to be a Cybertronian jet?

I want to say you mentioned it was a full alt mode retool, but I can’t actually find that post in your history.  

 

Ok I'm supposed to be away but I had to log back in for this. Not tryna benegative but this figure is trash, I hope this doesn't become a pattern with the dotm version and so on. Praying this is the unfinished prototype.

 

Not sure what's wrong with this figure, it's basically the same thing with the retooled chest (as it's supposed to be).
Also the yellow it's definitely much better than the original version.

 

I mean, Bumblebee's design in ROTF only has a few minor changes from the 07 design. While the paint work leaves some more to be desired (which is pretty much the case with all SS figures), they remolded everything for the new design. The shade of yellow is even more accurate, so besides using a darker gray for the robot mode pieces I don't think they could've done any better with this.

Regarding the unmasked head, While I agree that I'd like a new unmasked head, knowing Hasbro they'd just reuse the SS-01/Clunker Bee head, and if that's the case I'd much rather have the masked head.

 

Dat scale if anyone cares, oddly enough, the new one seems smaller:

 

Door wings just seem to be slightly angled up on the first movie one.

Overall I think the figure looks fantastic in both modes. Articulation is on par with the MPM line. The sculpt is impressive in some areas, but the crown looks a tad bit less refined than it could have been. Very very minor nitpick imo.



3 things with my copy that could be improved:
• the inner right toe stays in place, but is a bit wobbly
• the right shoulder assembly untabs too easily when moving the arm
• right wrist is more loose than it should be.



I'm glad I didn't pass this version of Soundwave up. I do think his leg transformation is ridiculously over complex, but it executes and functions quite well.

Also, I gotta say, as someone who vastly prefers the updated Bumblebee design from ROTF and DOTM over the one from the first movie, I'm really disappointed with the way this figure turned out. I was only planning on going with a potential DOTM version of the character as my Bumblebee for the first three movies, but the changes to silver paint and gray plastic really don't look good on this figure. In addition, aligning the black paint for the middle of the front bumper with the break in the front of the vehicle mode instead of angling it like it is in the actual car looks really bad.

Anyhow, some notes from watching the review:

Good stuff
-deeper orange color, yay!
-Car mode changes came out nicely
-looks like darker windows for those who care
-sam is kinda neat, and he still has his cannon

Bad stuff
-light gray looks ugly
-flashy silver crotch, why
-unpainted feet
-still no regular face
-front grill needed a bit more paint as pointed out earlier

The better yellow and sam are really nice, but they gray completely ruins the figure for me.
If only SS49 come out with correct yellow from the start.

I like how they tried to add the Camaro logo on the side of the car, but at this scale it's just a little extra line molded on.

I finished with my Mozart picture. But I am hesitate about posting it. If I could talk to someone like a Mod to see if it's legal.

 

Ok well let me start off by saying that I could be totally wrong. I had to remind myself that this is probably an unfinished factory prototype. That being said I sincerely hope that they fix a few things. First off that front grill looks terrible and definitely needs to be painted. Secondly, why are we receiving another damn battle mask Bee? Thirdly I'm little on the fence about the pain & accessories. We've already have his stinger weapons so it would've been nice to have something different like maybe his shoulder cannons or something and as for the Sam figure it's nice but it would've been really nice if it was articulated.

At this point I feel like I'd be paying $20 just for a glorified Sam figure. I don't mean to be negative but I really hope this isn't the final product. I highly doubt it is but right now I'm just being biased

Wow. TonTon finally got a Bayformers Studio Series figure. Our time has come, boys.

It looks okay, though. If I decide to get this, it’ll have to be heavily discounted first. It looks good, but not worth $20, especially since I have the ‘07 version.

 

I thought this picture would tide into Mohawk good because of his personality. But then again, I've heard lots of criticism about the celebrity that this picture features plus a couple other things.
