The description notes they kept some sticker detail coloring, like the PotP version, in order to make it not too monotonous.
I personally think that Takaratomy did an excellent job on this release. But that's just my biased approach.
Still think this would have been more effective for that anime aesthetic had they left that sticker detailing out. I am looking at this comparison pic and I really like the overall look; but clean legbots would have been even better.
Wait. Is that... Is that Snaptrap's rifle? While the feet and hands aren't perfect, I much prefer Has/Tak's original. The new feet and hands are okay, but overall...meh. If I want better feet, I'll just buy the PE kit and call it a day. (The TDW kit sucks and I won't be using those pieces at all. What a waste of money that was. )
I ordered the Perfect Effect hands and feet anyway. They are simply miles better than anything HasTak has done.
I feel the Takara ver needs the purple spines on the back of the necks. I wonder if parts swapping is possible over painting.
I quite like the plain colors on the Talara version, and I'm not usually one who likes animation accuracy. I think it helps deemphasize the unattractive bulk of the beast mode necks.
I like the little touches better on the Takaratomy version; like the tampoed Decepticon symbol on the side chest panels. Plus subtle colours in both modes. Red visor and painted face makes a world of difference too.
Them being white is cartoon and original toy accurate. Probably why they're left unpainted while the center spine is colored (it was like that in the cartoon and original toy).
Cartoon accuracy doesn't always translate well onto figures though. A little extra pink would make it pop.
True. It's probably one of those things that they figured would make it different from the PotP version while also not a big detriment to the look while also being cartoon accurate. Since beyond the robot mode face, there isn't a lot of drastic changes they can make.
They painted the combiner peg instead of remolding it in white? That's not gonna hold up at all. You can already see the paint chips/cracks in these pics.
