I'll pick this one up, but I'm in no hurry. It looks fun if a little middle of the road.

I've actually really enjoyed what I've played of this game so far. I love Cyberverse. I love XCOM. This is basically like a Cyberverse version of XCOM. Win, win!

I get that people want more shooter-type games like War For Cybertron and Fall Of Cybertron, but hey, we've got that game in Certain Affinity still to come. Who have worked on Halo games in the past. So hopefully we'll finally get some info on their upcoming game soon.

Played for 10 minutes when it finally released on switch this morning at 2cst
First impressions less limited movement than Mario+Rabbids but with a worse UI . Plot Seems to be taking place between season 1 and 2 of Cyberverse,
One of the modes in Arcade (Decepticons Grudge Match) lets you play as any four characters consiting of Megatron, Shockwave, Starscream, Soundwave, Slipstream, and Slipstrike, The switch version has Achievements

Marketing for the game pretty much was that meme that showed a KFC sign just saying "Bucket"

Played some of it last night. Main menu UI feels a little cheap right off the bat, but it's a small team, what do you do. The game is made in Unity and as a Unity developer myself, I can say that the engine does have a lot of features that are super easy to implement which can also encourage laziness. Basically if you don't have an interesting UI concept before you start you're just going to use the Unity default drag and drop buttons to make your menu as a proof of concept, then it's going to become the final design, and you just get something uninspired. It's whatever. My biggest problem is the mission start screen(s). It can be hard to navigate, and the biggest issue is that you don't get to see 3D models of your characters while you build your party. It feels like a cheap shortcut and has the side effect of not being able to see what any of their skins look like until you actually get in the game. I had to basically keep toggling to new skins on the party screen, which are just labels, and then start and keep quitting the level in order to see the skins in action. Very lame. They should clean up the UI and make it more inspired. At the very least they should update the little 2D picture with a picture of the new skin when you change between them.

The game itself seems fine. Barebones writing and super kid friendly, you know the type. Kid friendly to the level that it underestimates how much a kid can actually understand, so even a kid probably won't care about the story. I've only played the first two levels so maybe something actually surprising happens later. Won't get my hopes up on the story front. But fine, I'm only playing for the PS4 trophies anyway (which are very generous, lots of silvers and golds). How's the gameplay? Gameplay seems pretty decent so far actually. It's like a simplified version of XCOM or Mario Rabbids. Attacks seem to be directly line-of-sight based with no random chance to actually hit anyone so it's streamlined compared to its inspiration. You can move, different characters have different attack types (only played with Bumblebee and Windblade so far), and the order in which you do your actions can have some clear strategy. Do you move into the open and attack with something big? Do you use a weaker attack to leave yourself with some energy to find cover afterwards? Bumblebee needs to get up close to do his special attacks while Windblade can hit hard from a distance and even take advantage of the environment. With more characters introduced later I'm sure there is potential for interesting combinations to develop.

On the technical side it's gotten my PS4 Pro fan spinning on high speed a few times already and the framerate targets 60 but drops regularly. Might have been better off targeting 30 fps or at least including the option if they couldn't optimize some of their heavy operations. Maybe on PS5 it will power through to 60 all the time if I haven't 100%ed it already by then. The camera is janky too when enemies take their turns, popping all over the place in an ugly way instead of smoothly following the action using Cinemachine or some other solution. If they are using Cinemachine they aren't doing it well.

That's about all I've got so far. I'm playing on hard difficulty to give myself some more challenge and I even died once so it's not the most kiddy thing ever. Still not mature enough to warrant recommending to a serious player, but if you're like me and you like Transformers and want some easy trophies, there you go.

Yeah.... I’ll save my money. There’s plenty of actual good games with love put in them and a triple A budget that are on sale right now and a much better use of my money.

Like....I don\'t understand...Were WFC, FoC, and RoTF not very CLEAR indicators of how to make a good transformers game???????? Obviously don\'t give it to a trash company like Activision. But seeing the franchise\'s potential continuously wasted on shit like this makes me so sad.

This is supposed to be for younger fans and thats fine. Some older fans might enjoy this and props to those that do.

However, I do think Transformers needs the Insomniac Spiderman treatment. Hasbro should hire a studio like High Moon who are dedicated to creating another AAA TF Title in the way so many loved about the WFC series or even Devastation.

Played through the first few missions on switch. I\'m enjoying the game. But I like turn based Strategy games like xcom.
the graphics are lacking and the menu system is lazy. I like that thevoice actors are from the show and I am enjoying the gameplay quite a bit, characters have unique attacks, enemy AI isn\'t horrible so far and the story (so far) fits into the show. It\'s a little stupid that it\'s a \"human coordinating the attacks\". Honestly they could have just had teletraan x be the player. Instead of adding this dumb plot element but whatever.
Overall I\'m enjoying it so far.
its already WAY better the GIJoe was But if you don\'t like cyberverse or Turn based Strategy, you\'re not going to like this.

Sponsored video by two Laughing Joking Numbnuts.

But don't let the fact that are paid to say nice things about the game fool you they are diehard fans. They really enjoyed the Netflix show - Transformers Rise and Earthrise. You know the trilogy. Also they were impressed with new character Windblade.

Sorry but my money is better spent elsewhere, this game isn\'t for me. Huge props to those that enjoy it, really glad to know that you\'re able to enjoy something that I cannot. Gone are the days of the brilliantly made Cybertron games by High Moon Studios and now we get this. We\'ve waited 5 years for a new Transformers console game and this is what we get. I hate to say this but I seriously think that Hasbro isn\'t taking the Transformers community seriously anymore.

I’ll wait until it goes on sale for Switch. It looks like it’d be good for killing time while travelling, like a short flight whenever that becomes a thing again. But not full price good.

It might say a lot about me as a person that this is what causes me to raise a dubious eyebrow. Am I really so used to X-com and Fire Emblem screwing me over that I can't stomach a game where the hits are assured? :lol

Thanks for leaving your in-depth thoughts, though. It gives me a bit of confidence that my interest in the game wasn't worthless. I'm gonna be trying it out in the next couple weeks.
