Would it have killed Hasbro to do a few mold improvements on some of these? Would have been nice if BrainStorm’s front vehicle nose has actual removable blasters like in the original. Also a redo to his canopy to make it more a of a proper jet mode would have been nice. Oh well. Might get mindwipe if NonF reissues his upgrade kit.

To make it even more weird, they had actually introduced the concept of Headmasters in phase 1 of IDW because they made Sunstreaker a headmaster for a while. I’ve not read the IDW run all the way to the end, but I’m guessing they just never brought the concept over to the classic Headmaster characters. I think I’m 11 volumes into phase two and those characters are all there, they’re just not Headmasters.

 

They did touch on Cybertronian headmasters, just not the with the classic G1 characters or in anything like the same way.

Headmasters were a different form of Cybertronian life-form that was deliberately exterminated in ancient times by Galvatron as "deviants", Galvatron being obsessed with racial purity. The concept was also tied together with the idea of non-humanoid Cybertronians, such as Ravage and Laserbeak.

 

The idea of Headmasters also returned for the Titans Return tie-in issues later on. However unlike with Combiner Wars which went out of it's way to bring in a ton of combiner teams which wasn't received all that well by anyone, I believe it was decided to not interrupt the ongoing plots this time and just focus on side characters like Sentinel Prime in the story as being "Titanmasters" rather than force a reason into the story to say have Brainstorm and Chromedome gain Titanmaster abilities for the sake of Hasbro's toy commercial.

 

the gun on Brainstorm's front isn't removable and splittable now like it used to be in g1? what's the point? That was how his front end opened up to transform, and how his dual hand blasters are made. For real?

 

This among many really bothers me about Transformers lore and continuity. They seriously are all over the place with different timelines and storylines. It isn't that hard to just get it together and do some QC on the writers and animators, but they never have. W.T. F.

They tried making all new media part of the same continuity with Aligned, and it ended up unnecessarily limiting the variety of stories, and in the long run wasn't closely followed anyway.

There is a rumor Punch/Counterpunch mold will get repainted as another character for Galactic Odyssey. So which rumor is correct/ more likely?

 

they came from the same guy so most likely either both are wrong or both are correct

 

The headmaster line rumor came first and is more likely in my opinion since Pixelmaster claimed that the Punch/Counterpunch GO repaint would be packed with Earthmode Barricade, and then he later said that Earthmode Barricade was indeed Netflix wave 3 (like the store listings said) and that the GO Barricade was the G1 Micromaster renamed after mentioning that nearly all of his GO "leaks" were fed to him from a bad source

 

Aligned was the worst thing they've ever tried with Transformers fiction by far. The fact that IDW managed to stay out of it and other Hasbro mandates to do it's own thing for so long was a good thing.

 

Oh, I know... both versions have the issue. I just wish that, in the QC lottery, it had been my Hasbro version to break instead of the Takara version.   So far my Hasbro Weirdwolf remains intact. I mean, it could be worse... at least the piece still stays on (because of the rubber part), and is on his back.

I'm sure it has been said already but this was the perfect opportunity/excuse to reissue Misfire, Twin Twist & Windblade. Damn shame!

 

I wouldn't be surprised when these sell well the decepticon targetmasters, studio series kup, blurr, hotrod, scourge, cyclonus, etc will also be reissued with the legends target masters and maybe windblade and the Jumpstarters

 

This newer figures in retro packaging concept would be good outlet for a domestic release of the Takara Seacons.

A guy can hope. lol

 

The green or teal G1 seacons were so much better than the white takara, even despite the much better articulation later on. Just mainly the color is an issue with me. White decepticons?... lel
