I’m in that « never transform my bots » club. We are definitely a weird bunch haha. Odd...I just like knowing they can transform into these awesome modes. Just seeing it on videos is enough for me.

To my point, are most the issues with Thomas due to transformation or is the knee/chest screw fiasco due to the actual base figure sans transformation.

Mainlines will always be sold out and that's not saying anything especially since you can apparently buy Earthrise Scorponok for 44.99 + Tax in some Podunktowns, USA. I am not kidding, people have found the Titan class figure 2 months after release for that price.

Heard back from Baba with the following:

Seems odd that some of our packages have reached the US and others are sitting in a warehouse...

I have one with a janky left leg. Willing to trade the left leg... but that would give you 2 legs that are same, but not perfect.

Not sure trading is an ideal solution. Hmmm.

If you don’t transform him, the issues encountered thus far won’t bother you. The knee ratchet is minor, unless you look closely and the chest panels should be fine as is.

I don't what this is, but it came off of him.
Any of you know where it goes?
    IMG_20201022_183026.jpg

Yeah, he's good for the rest. Except that piece.
    IMG_20201022_200425.jpg

I don't know if you guys also have this problem. And if you guys can see it.
Do you see the difference here?
One leg ratchet goes more forward. The other goes more way more backward.
    IMG_20201022_192304.jpg IMG_20201022_192253.jpg IMG_20201022_191944.jpg

And no, it isn't me having the ratchets wrong because je has double knee bending and also both parts has ratchets.
While standing, he has one leg more to the front and one more to the back.
    Meaning, mine cant stand straight.

New pictures so you can see it better.
    His left leg is good.
But his right leg ratchet goes to much to the front or to much to the back.
Since to the front is less. I'll bent it more to the front. Like breaking his leg at the knee.

Most of the copies are like this. It’s randomly either the left or right knee ratchet causing the issue. If you go back and re-read a few pages it has been mentioned. IIRC starting on page 202 and also page 238.

here’s where the purple piece goes (courtesy of Rich33):

The purple bits drop out, but belong under the wing(? Haven't opened yet but sure that's it) and there's a known issue with the knee ratchets. Most people have a knee that's half a click off. No spare parts as yet, it's possible to swap with a thread member who has the opposite side piece error on theirs but you both need to be 200% certain you have each other's parts.

Misaligned knee ratchets. Go back to page 238 and see Overbleed’s post there. Not all copies are like this. Some come out of the box perfectly fine. Luck of the draw.

Thanks for where that purple piece goes.
I'll put it back in there.

Overbleed... or anyone with an answer...
Does it look possible to widen the spacing between the ratchet teeth? IE remove some people of the teeth on each half, so as to reduce the overall number of detents/stop points... but with the fewer remaining teeth, make both halves align perfectly?

Also... has anyone seen this style of ratchet before used in another toy? Or is it some thing proprietary to FT and/or Thomas alone?

"Plate ratchet" type joints are quite common among big transformers toys (TFC uses them a lot), but I have never seen them made of metal like the FT ones.

Looks similar to the hip joints of FT Terminus Giganticus... but that was half plastic half metal. Someone with some free time could cast the two halves and sell them for profit to needy Thomas owners.
