So on one Livestream with Transformers Slag Podcast, Protoman said that he always prefers vehicle bots over beast bots despite saying that Beast Wars is the best of Transformers. Do you agree?

 

I prefer a wide verity of possible alt-forms. Not just vehicles...not just beast. I want TFs that turn into furniture, or even 'useless' objects (I believe Ambion (sp) turned into a leg in IDW1?).

 

Ideally I like a mix of alternate modes. Vehicles, beasts, even boomboxes and stuff like that. Of the two, I definitely prefer vehicles though. Mainly because vehicles tend to be used for the storytelling purpose of disguise, whereas beast modes tend to just be used because robots that turn into dinosaurs and gorillas and whatnot are cool. It's not really bad to include something for "the rule of cool", but I naturally gravitate towards the one with a stronger narrative purpose.

 

Come on, man, do you really expect me to choose? I can never choose one out of two of anything, and this is no exception.

 

That's easy for me, beasts

 

That's like choosing between Air, Ground, Sea or Space vehicles.

 

Vehicles. Don't really see the point of beast modes in that the robot mode can usually do everything the beast mode can.

 

Both! Different forms provide different advantages.

 

When it comes to altmodes, I prefer all the above.

 

It depends on the character tbh!

 

My favorite character is G1 Optimus Prime.
My second favorite is G1 Grimlock.

Vehicle modes, no question. I do like beast modes, whether they be robotic ones or the Beast Wars organic-shell ones. I just happen to like vehicle alt-modes more.

 

Agreed. I'd prefer a vehicle or cassette that transforms into a beast over a humanoid robot that transforms into a beast. Like DotM Hatchet or the second Alternator Ravage...

 

Why not all of the above?

Mechanical to organic just seems... problematic to me. I like mechanical beast forms, but the whole real skin thing? Nope.

 

Gun to my head, I prefer beasts. It's what I grew up with, and to me animals are more exciting than vehicles. They're just as much characters as the robots, and since they can functionally do everything a vehicle can do, (fly, go fast) since they're still robots underneath, there's not really a scenario where a beast can't be at least an equal trade, and lots of situations where being able to climb/crawl/dig/jump/etc without changing forms would be useful. The WFC/FOC games to me always showed exactly how limiting vehicles were since you had to go into the weird "hover mode" first because a regular car or jet would be too limiting, yet in multiplayer the Dinobots and Insecticons didn't have to do that. We should've gotten a BW game in that formula.
